“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

Booked through a last minute deal...my advice is: If you can swing the extra $ for a suite...do it, they are beautiful. Also, breakfast is a wonderful buffet, pretty much anything you could want for breakfast. The room was loft style with exposed brick and a wonderful view of table mountain from the 10th floor. The staff was also super helpful, had a late check out without charge and they kept our bags for the afternoon since our flight didn't leave until 11:30. Can't say enough nice things, hopefully they read these reviews and know that they were appreciated. It was exactly the laid back place we needed before our 20+ hours of flights home. Thanks guys!

Room Tip: Suite is worth the price.

We booked an apartment for the Friday night for the U2 concert in Cape Town. Unfortunately there was a double booking & we were set up in the Cape Town Lodge. My first impression was that it is a very clean hotel, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, fully stocked mini bar & coffee & tea facility in the room. Air conditioning was working on full speed as it was a very hot day.

The hotel is centrally located in Cape Town. We walked to the Cape Town Stadium, which is very close to the V&A waterfront as well as many other attractions.

This is a good hotel if you need a base to explore Cape Town & surrounds.

The only problem I had with this hotel is that you don't sleep here. It is situated between two of the most busiest streets in Cape Town, there is no sound proof windows & you can hear everything in the street. From the traffic to people passing by having a conversation. We came back between 00:30 - 01:00 & by 04:00 we still couldn't sleep, due to the noise. The blinds was adequate but didn't keep out all the light - the curtains are just for show...

Cape Town is a city that never sleeps, therefore if you are looking for a good nights rest, try a hotel with sound proof windows.

We haven't tried the breakfast which was priced at R80. You can get an excellent breakfast for much cheaper in one of the small coffee shops or restaurants close to the hotel. There is very good coffee shops in Loop Street & surrounds.

All in all this is a good hotel, the pictures are a true reflection of the rooms.
Centrally but no sleep quality!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that looks into the courtyard

We held a meeting at the Cape Town Lodge with mostly black african delegates from West and Central Africa. I must say the attitude of the staff, the managers was nothing short of racist. They constantly yelled at the delegates, gave lots of instructions on where they could seat. One got all his luggage thrown out of the room because they hadnt read the booking instruction for a late check out. Another was charged a 'devaluation fee' for using the hotel adapter. Stay at the hotel if you are white. But if you are white and around people of other races, you are bound to witness discrimination!

We stayed here during the World Cup 2010. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any queries or assistance. The breakfasts were definitely worth getting up for and the bar and grill restaurant was of a high standard too. We found it an ideal base in the heart of Cape Town close to the famous lively night scene of Long Street and a ten minute walk or short taxi ride away from the Waterfront. All that with a stunning backdrop of Table Mountain.

I stayed in Cape Town Lodge for 10 days in January and 20 days in April 2011. The staff is generally nice, rooms are really clean. I forgot my valuables in the room many times and they took them to the main safe, they are very reliable. Restaurant, Butcher's Grill is almost perfect, you should try mr./mrs.fillet and patato mashes!!

From the Manager Cindy and inclusive of all the staff at the Cape Town Lodge, you will find professional, helpful service from all who work there. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with wonderful creative art work. The rooms are very comfortable. Breakfasts are a real occassion. Where you can enjoy eating whilst listening to a chap playing the grand piano. It is well situated and only a short walk to town or a brisk one to the Waterfront. It is reasonably priced too. It houses a great little gym. We make a point to staying there on our visits to Cape Town and are always sorry to leave.
