My husband brought me to this hotel for my birthday and a short city break, and we loved staying here. Anything can be excused with a view like that! Table Mountain, the Company Gardens, the Planetarium and the CT skyline all await you majestically from your hotel room window! It completely drew our attention away from the slightly outdated decor. The room was a good size and there was ample space for our luggage. The bathroom was clean and neat, although the shower is in the bathtub - not a problem for us though. Staff treated us kindly and went out of their way to accommodate us. The Friday evening was "date night" and we had a few drinks in the bar - a lovely young lady performed beautiful music (Faith Mac, if I remember correctly) which created a fabulous vibe and set the tone for our evening. We then left the hotel and only returned much later, to friendly staff welcoming us back with a smile. The next morning we slept late and spent hours drinking coffee (facilities in the room) and staring at the beautiful mountain view. We went downstairs for breakfast, and once again it didn't disappoint. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food delicious. Afterwards we sat on the front porch and watched tourists on their way to the beautiful company gardens.
We loved staying at the hotel - it's warm, welcoming and cosy. We're Capetonians, but we'll most certainly be back for a city break. In fact, I'm sending my sister to stay there in a few weeks for a relaxing weekend away.
Only one point of criticism: the spa was not operating when we were there - I understand it's being renovated though, so that's understandable. I can recommend the spa across the road at 15 on Orange hotel. I've been there before, so if you really want a massage or facial while the Hollow's is unavailable, go there - it's literally just across the road.
Thanks Hollow, we'll be back!
