“Same Excellant Service!”

The Peninsula All-Suite Hotel

Feb 21, 2008

I stayed at this hotel two years ago and it was wonderful to return. The hotel manage to retain many of the same staff and not only were we recognised but our names were remembered. This is a time share resort but is run like a hotel with reception, bar and restaurant very efficiently indeed. An example being on our first night we were at a restaurant at the V and A when the whole of the area fell victim to the power cuts and all restaurants had to close. We returned to the Peninsula which offered a choice of two meals and had candles everywhere. Being very peckish, this was fab and did the trick! After dinner, we, along with other guests were escorted by torch to our rooms and offered candles for the night. Before this trip I decided I would return to SA every two or three years. Not now, if possible I will return to this friendly hotel again and again. Where else could you wake up literally looking over the Ocean!

London, England

My family stayed here for a couple of days, arriving after an overnight flight from London; having spoken a couple of times to the reservations, we arrived at 9am and got a 2-bed penthouse suite available to move straight into. It is really a timeshare place, but nothing wrong about that. There is good service, a nice restaurant for breakfast (included) and dinner, plus a modest gym and 2 swimming pools ( one heated). It is right on the beach road overlooking a small beach; but it is easy to take the shuttle (free) to Camps bay or into Cape Town.

“Consistently very good”

My wife and I have stayed here regularly since 1998 and we have always been very pleased with the experience. The service is good the staff always friendly and helpful, it is generally well maintained and the General Manager Chris Godenir is excellent.
We like the position of the hotel; Seapoint is a definite community with useful shops yet access to the centre of Cape Town is quick and easy. The Peninsula is as close to the sea as you can get without actually being on the beach, nearly all the rooms have stunning seaviews and the sound of the sea will lull you to sleep.

“Not at all a 5 Star”

The Peninsula All-Suite Hotel

A time shared self catering hotel. It has 2 buildings: an old and an new one, looking as a only one. We stayed in the old one. It seems like a 3 stars 60´s hotels. Even though the rooms have a big size, they have windows to the corridor, so you heart everything. The bathroom is terrible. It has a hot tub but occupied almost all the room, so it is the smaller bathroom that I saw in a hotel (5 stars ???)
Almost in the rooms, public spaces, etc, seem old fashined and it need urgently a renovation.
It doesn´t worth the price.

“Absolutely Perfect!!!”

The Peninsula is a time-share condominium complex located facing the ocean in Sea Point, Cape Town. The spacious rooms, which include (in my case) a very large room that served as your bedroom and living room. The living room area had comfortable casual furniture looking out a window over the pool and out to the ocean. The bed was at the back of this large room and was placed on a platform so that in the morning, you woke to see the same gorgeous view of the ocean out the window. The bed was comfortable and I slept well each and every night of my 8 nights at the Peninsula.
But, this is not all. The suites have a full kitchen that is thoughtfully supplied with everything you need to cook wonderful meals. The granite countertops are a nice touch and an indication that the furnishings as a whole are of high quality. It was a delight to prepare meals in "my" kitchen and eat on the adjoining balcony overlooking the ocean.
The bath was clean and contained a whirlpool tub. The staff that serviced the apartments were fantastic as well. Nice additional touches are the free beach towels, free beach chairs, and free parking at sunset beach.
My rate included a buffet breakfast as well. I can only describe this as sumptuous in every way. It was truly a delight to get up in the morning and eat downstairs next to the pool. The buffet included everything imaginable (meats, fruits, yoghurts, breads, cereals, potatoes, mushrooms, etc.) and eggs cooked to order! Everything was fresh and amazing. And again, the service was spectacular in every way.
Sea Point is a neighborhood that has many cafes, shops, and restaurants. There is a nearby Spar Market for groceries. It has a wonderful seaside location and fantastic views and wonderful walks and runs along the promenade.
Now, the louvers that previous people have written about. The rooms all face the ocean and the opposite wall at the back of your room has windows that actually open to the hallway. It sounds weird, but the point is to get a cross breeze (as the hall has wondows to the outside on the other side of it). The louvers afford you some privacy even though your windows are open. I liked them and found I never had to use the aircon even though I was there in summer! The wonderful sea breezes were fantastic.
If you book early through their website, you will likely get an excellent deal. Even if you don't, the Peninsula is a special place that I will most certainly return to. I highly recommend the Peninsula.
