4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

A pleasant stay i Cape Town. Victoria Junction is located in walking ditance to the Waterfront. With a variety of bars and restaurants, all with a good standard. Also good for shopping. We stayed here mid october, pleasant temperture allready, but the summer southwinds was already present. Chilly at night!

A reasonable hotel. Really good bedrooms - large, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the restaurant and bar area were not so good. Breakfasts were not a pleasant experience as the hotel was packed. School dinners definitely came to mind! Food was OK and the staff did as good a job as possible. We had one evening meal there, which again was just OK. On the plus side was that the hotel is a short walk to the V&A and there were always plenty of taxis around if returning after dark. There was also a courtesy bus, run on a "first come, first served" basis, although this only ran a couple of times each evening. Not a bad hotel but a couple of nights stay was probably enough.

The initial impression of the hotel from the outside is that its a standard city hotel (similar to our holiday inns). The reception area and bar/restaurant were tidy and welcoming. Once your out of the lifts on the bedroom floors then its a different matter, it looks like a purpose built prison cell block!! This 'effect' does not immediately have a positive impact on everyone but its certaintly effective. The main point is the actual rooms and they are more than adequate, some dont have the best views but they are spacious and clean. Most if not all also have a desk to work from. A great shower as well. The A/C was too noisy and left off, this would be a major issue if really hot.
So the rooms get a positive, unfortunately the bar/restaurant area can be abyssmal at times. The barman is very able but if its busy hes on his own. The waitresses can take an eternity to serve you, i waited 25 minutes to receive a beer and then had to repeatedly request my change - another 40 minutes later i was informed that there was no small change!!. Totally unacceptable. The breakfast fare was good, although it resembled a bun fight at times. Generally, i thought it was very satisfactory, and would be a good if the service was better. Its a 10 min walk to the V&A which is handy.

Room Tip: Rear of building and on top floor to escape possible traffic noise.

This is an excellent place. Great rooms, good location and a fair price. My room was like a 5 star hotel, breakfast is included (made to order eggs or omelette not just fruit and pastries).
Consider it if you don't want to pay for waterfront but wish to be close enough toe all there.

Absolutely no complaints about this hotel. We had a fantastic stay here. It is a clean and modern hotel with rooms furnished and equipped with all the comforts and needs. The buffet breakfasts were amazing and the staff were attentive and helpful. The location is excellent with the V&A Waterfront and many places in city center within walking distance. There are several restaurants and supermarkets within a few minutes walk.

Location is very good only a cheap taxi ride to the Water Front with Shopping, Bars, Restaurants
and a Brewery who not only serve good beer but excellent food. The hotel is very clean with a strange pool ! My one complaint would be security, as there was a incident when we were there, the person walked in off the street and went up a few floors with out being picked up. This in turn made us feel insecure and yet this should have been the most secure hotel. The staff were very pleasant and the room was lovely, large and very clean.

Had a really fantastic stay here. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. They went the extra mile and had a room ready for us very quickly after arriving as we were early for normal check in. Although they did laugh when my wife and walked into the foyer looking like drowned rats when we had been caught in the hail stones! Mind you it was quite funny and we soon dried out in our lovely room.
