“Bad experience for a 5 star hotel ”

Our stay at table bay was very disappointing for me and my husband as honeymooners.
We had to wait for a table for breakfast 3 days in a row! And it takes them 15-20 minutes to prepare an omelette!
Also, the housekeeping people knock on our door almost 3 times a day for no reason regardless the privacy sign kept on the door. Yesterday the housekeeping lady knocked on our door while we were asleep and we told her we don't need anything so she left. After 3 minutes we see her entered the room without even knocking asking for the iron!!!
I also noticed that in the shower the water temperature keeps changing suddenly and I have to adjust the temperature during my shower like 10 times and I almost had a burn today as the water suddenly became very hot!

Everything else was good, but I expected much more from a 5 stars hotel!

We stayed here for six nights and had a wonderful room overlooking the harbour with Table Mountain as the backdrop. The service was slow on the terrace and in the bar. The staff, in the main, are courteous and seem well-trained. I was given a voucher for free afternoon which would have been wonderful but for my gluten allergy. We enjoyed sumptuous breakfasts each morning, with the exception of our last morning. There is the main breakfast room which has a staggering selection on offer and in addition to the buffet, it is possible to ordered freshly prepared eggs. On our last day, however, we were told the main dining area was full and sent to the smaller restaurant having been told it is the same breakfast only smaller. Don't be fooled, it absolutely is not. There was a limited range of fruit and juice. No salad, tomatoes, olives etc. The range of cold cuts and cheese was minimal. If you want croissant and pastries, fine but of no use to me. I ended up with a tiny portion of fresh fruit, followed by cold scrambled egg and cold bacon. I spoke to the Supervisor and complained, she apologised, but I still left feeling very dissatisfied. This wouldn't stop me returning but I would certainly refuse the poor man's breakfast option. The hotel would do well to account for those have gluten allergy by at least offering rice cakes at breakfast. I stayed at a small camp in the Namib desert and they could produce gluten free bread and muffins at two hours notice. The pool area is small and a bit cheek by jowel and the gym equipment is badly in need of being replaced. For me the small things make a difference, we reported a broken lamp on day one and it was never repaired. One of the drawers only had one handle on it. Not five star!

Stayed 3 nights from 28th Sept 2014. This is a really impressive hotel with large public areas with beautiful flower arrangements setting of the ornate furnishings. even the rest rooms are opulent.
The security in and around the hotel is good and access to the upper floors is by lift /room key via a roped of area overseen by genial member of staff.
From the foyer the restaurant rooms are accessed and so is the entrance directly onto the V & A waterfront. An escalator in the foyer takes you directly into the second floor of a mall containing shops and restaurants galore !
Turning to the rooms these are well furnished with plenty of space and views to die for overlooking the mountain and or bay.
So far as concerns food breakfast can be taken in the main larger restaurant known as the Atlantic or in the smaller narrower one known as the Camissa Brasserie which caters for lunch and dinner as well.
For whatever reason on the first two mornings we were directed to the Brasserie and the service and choice is not very good. On the last morning we insisted in being seated in the Atlantic room and this is an entirely different experience the food here is excellent and there are choices in abundance. We tried to book for dinner but the Brasserie could not cater for our party of six. No big deal we ate out.
All in all a great stay and would return in a breath.

The breakfast buffet is wonderful and has a huge variety. The outside area is on the waterfront, but the birds can be a nuisance. We had several small issues with the hotel staff, but overall it was a very nice hotel. We had high tea at the hotel and afterwards were too full for dinner! We almost missed out on a shark dive cage adventure because the hotel staff did not deliver the message to us. Our tour guide was quite upset since it would have cost us $600 if we had not shown up. Thankfully our i-phones worked so we did receive a text message about the meeting time. We also had our toilet back up in to the tub twice, but then it was fixed. (And I accused my husband of having smelly feet!) The room was large and spacious with beautiful views of the water. My son and daughter in law used the pool and enjoyed the area. We also had some issues with trying to confirm reservations for high tea and for dinner. The staff kept sending me to different departments where I had to repeat what I needed. My DH kept laughing at me because it sounded like a Saturday Night tv skit! Overall a great hotel, but need some staff training. perfect location with excellent food in the restaurant, too.

A simply lovely hotel right at the V&A waterfront. We stayed 4 days, after our cruise ended in Capetown, and the ship actually docked within 100 yards of the hotel!! Pretty easy to transfer luggage!
The breakfast buffet was the finest we have ever seen...there was an entire room dedicated to just juices and smoothies!! Selection and quality +++.
Staff was excellent...they were perfectly friendly and extremely helpful.
I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: One bedroom junior suite was amazing, but a little pricey. The regular rooms look perfectly wonderf...

Excellent hotel. Perfect location.
For our 30th anniversary we chose Cape Town and Table Bay. We are happy that we did. Cape Town is a beautiful city and Table Bay is a gem in that city. Location can't be better. Right on V&A Waterfront (one of the most happening places in Cape Town) with plenty of eating options. Hotel is attached to one of the upscale malls so no need to go far for shopping. Cordial behaviour and good service. When the front office staff came to know we are staying for our 30th anniversary- she suggested the corner room upgrade (of course with a charge). The view from the room is superb. With floor to ceiling window on both sides - you have view of Table Mountain on one side and Waterfront on the other. We didn't regret paying extra. We were also provided with a bottle of wine and cake to celebrate. Will definitely stay again.
