We had a fab stay at the "Nellie" in March this year. Warm, friendly and very helpful staff, wonderful outdoor pool with great poolside service and food. Magnificent restaurant for dining in the evenings - All in all, a fabulous hotel for a great holiday with your loved ones, family and/or friends. Can't recommend this hotel enough - if you don't stay here, then you should definitely pop in for afternoon tea! Enjoy!

Wonderful historic hotel. Rooms excellent. We were looked after very well. This was our second time, my sister in law and husband with us on their honey moon-sorry to leave after 3 days. Staff all very helpful-couldn't do enough for you. Rooms were excellent and breakfasts delicious with so much choice. Would recommend to anyone.

“charming and friendly hotel”

Mount Nelson Hotel

Jun 28, 2008

I stayed at this hotel whilst on business, so I didn't have to pay for it out from my own pocket. None the less, I recommend this hotel for a number of reasons:

The decor is old fashioned, but charming. Very English.

The beds are incredibly comfy.

There's a great attention to detail. After a long day, I would come back to my room to find that staff had turned back my bed, laid a robe and slippers out, and left me fresh fruit and bottled water by my bed side. A bit OTT perhaps, but a nice touch.

The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you.

The Spa is wonderful - a great way to unwind. Expect prices similar to those in the UK though.

Breakfast was lovely - such a great selection.

The Planet Bar is a great place to relax with a cocktail.

Enjoy your stay! If I ever go back to Cape Town I will probably stay here again.

We are checking out today; we've been here 4 nights.
From the very first minute we arrived we actually felt the hotel was built specifically for us!
I've never stayed in a hotel where we were treated so well. Our concierge, Byron, was first class. We celebrated our honeymoon here obviously, but also my birthday.
He found out both of these snippets of info, and rewarded us for it.Everyone working in here has been so helpful.
We are off travelling around South africa for the rest of our honeymoon; I just hope that the rest of our honeymoon won't be a disappointment compared to the Mount Nelson!!

“Classic Old Traditional Hotel”

Spent three days here with a tour in March. It is a classic. Beautiful grounds, within walking distance of "downtown", and highly attentative staff. We were without luggage (lost by airline) for two days and the staff could not offer enough assistance with personal items to get us through this time. Breakfast buffet is outstanding, the restaurants and bars offer well prepared, delicious and excelently served fare in a traditional manner. The rooms are old and many of the bedrooms are a bit cramped, but the bathroom is modern, well appointed and large with both soaking tub and shower.

This is a highly recommended stay.
