“Friendy staff, clean rooms and great price!!”

Best Western Cape Suites Hotel

Dec 15, 2007

We have just returned to Ireland after a trip to South Africa. We found the Cape Suites to be a charming little oasis in Capetown with good facilities, very helpful staff and clean spacious rooms with balcony, all nestled at the foot of the mountain!! It was wonderful!
The Cape Suites do not profess to be the Savoy in London or even the Mount Nelson in Capetown and this is reflected in the price! This is a clean, friendly hotel with great access to Capetowns many activities and staff that are genuinely keen to help.
We would definately use them again!

“a bit disappointed”

Our agent had booked the room for us. We were disappointed. We thought the hotel was 4 star but looked not even 3 star. The personel was not helpful or friendly and the rooms not nice at all. If I had checked earlier on Tripadvisir I would have known that it was not great. That teach me a good lesson for next time.

“Great for the price”

Best Western Cape Suites Hotel

After seeing some of the nasty reviews, I had to write to share my experieince.
We picked this hotel as there were 3 of us traveling and we wanted a 2 bedroom suite. We had just finished a high-end safari, so we were ok with saving a few bucks. The property was very secure, had a guide at the gate. It was super easy to find and I did find it for the first time well after midnight, in a rental car.
The rooms are not new, but very serviceable. The beds were comfy and the linen's nice. We had 2 bathrooms, and both had plenty of hot water. The first morning we noticed a light out in the living room, which made the room really dark. We told the front desk and by the time we were back, it had been fixed.
I really take exception with the comments about the breakfast, the breakfast was great, ours was included in the room cost and we certainly were pleased. They had hot made-to-order eggs, multiple sausages (beef, chicken, mutton, pork, ect....). They allowed you to sit and enjoy as much coffee/tea as you wanted, for as long as you wanted.
The internet was pricey, $5US for 15 minutes, but you pay for the convienents of having it in the lobby. Yes, I could have gone to an internet cafe and paid less, but the choice is there for you to decide.
One of the ladies at the front desk was not clever, but the other lady was great, gave great driving directions and many good touring tips.
No, this is not the ritz, but for the price you pay, I thought they offered alot of value. I would stay here on my next trip to Cape Town.

DON'T STAY HERE - absolutely horrendous. Supposed to be 4 stars. I wouldn't give it 2. Found a dead rat in my room along with lots of creepy crawlies. Room was cold. No hot water. Internet was NINE times more expensive than local internet cafes. Staff were quite surly. breakfast was non existent. Won't be back here.

Management Response
BWCapeSuitesHotel, Management
(Management representative)
Jul 3, 2007
The facts are as follows:

1. Management first received the portion of this complaint dealing with Internet cost via Best Western International. Our subsequent request for documentary proof elicited no response from the complainant. After a thorough internal investigation, we could find no evidence that the overcharge occurred. Best Western have closed their file on the matter.

2. Then followed this present TripAdvisor complaint.

- Management received no report of the alleged vermin from the complainant during his stay. Suffice it to say that our procedures and standards make an occurrence of this sort highly unlikely.

- Management received no report of a lack of hot water or of an air-conditioning failure from the complainant during his stay. We have subsequently investigated the matter and found the relevant technical systems to be functioning normally.

- Our experience indicates daily that our guests quite enjoy our buffet breakfasts, which are served every morning in the Wild Bar, before venturing forth to experience the magic of Cape Town and surroundings.

“Great stay !!”

Best Western Cape Suites Hotel

My Brother in Law swapped his Time share for one week to stay here and we were not disappointed.
The apartment was clean, with all the amenities and was serviced daily with fresh fruit and a great view over Table Mountain ( Room 39 ).
Two pools which we did not use as it was a bit cold but the restaurants are very reasonable if you do not fancy travelling out as we did not after being out and about all day.
Friendly staff and a very good reception that runs a free shuttle service to the V & A a few times a day but book in the morning as it does fill up fast.
You are five minutes from the Wtaerfront and a taxi costs about 40 rand so not bad at all.

I would highly recommend staying here but do get a room on the second floor if stiars are not a problem to you as they are much more private and quieter.
