My wife has a bit of acrophobia, and the fear of the cable car was far greater than the actual ride. By the time we were half-way up the mountain, she was "ooing" and "awing" the scenery as much as the rest of us. Once we got to the stop, all we could do was stare: it was beautiful, so clear, with perfect weather. It seemed that we could see forever, as well as the entire cape district of South Africa. We really enjoyed the quiet of the magnificence of various outlook points -- it seemed almost church-like. The worst part of the experience was having to leave it.
Strongly recommend a good binoculars; but a modern "point and shot" digital camera produced pictures of amazing quality. Take the time to explore the trails at the top, especially if this is a once-in-a-lifetime visit.
