“Bad weather didn't ruin the hike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2014 NEW

Whenever we are fortunate enough to make a trip to Cape Town, we make sure that we have time for a hike up Table Mountain via the Plattikip Gorge.

We made the hike again this December and despite having clouds and very heavy winds moving in at the top, we again enjoyed the exhaustion that you earn on the hike.

Prior to the walk, our hotel mentioned that there have been some robberies on the route. We have not experienced this fortunately, but there was a group of police officers doing some training hikes. I suppose it would be worth a check with your hotel if you are looking to do this incredible hike.

A must do!

“Amazing Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2014 NEW

We were very fortunate that there was no cloud on the day of our visit and the wind had dropped by the time we arrived at the cable car. The cable car ride was the start of our adventure. The paths at the top of the mountain were manageable, even for those with minimal fitness levels. The 360 degree views are amazing and I was thrilled to see a rock Hydrax, a very cute little animal. The vegetation was very hardy but some had lovely flowers. There is a well-stocked gift shop and cafe.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2014 NEW

I went up by Sightseeing bus and cable car. Great views and the cable car wasn't scary for one who is frightened of heights. Unfortunately, they had forecast of high winds so I was only on the top for 10 minutes before the siren went and we all had to come off. Had a very nice boerewors sandwich in the bar at the cable car base.

“Great views, but weather can be unpredictable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2014 NEW

Awesome views!! and the cable car ride up slowly spins so you can get the full 360 degree view. Once on top, the weather can change in an instant. In the 90 mins we spent there, it went from clear, to cloudy and misty, back to clear again. So dont be discouraged if it looks a little cloudy from the ground.

“Great hike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2014 NEW

Dont take the cable cart! if you are in an acceptable fysical condition, consider the walk up (1 1/2 hrs steap climb up).
Its worth the effort!
the park on top is beautiful and the views spectacular. Very cool to see how the indian and atlantic oceans meet. (they have different colours)
