“Brilliant Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

Mannabay is such a brilliant hotel!
The building itself is top class, very stylishly decorated and very comfortable. We travelled with our children and had two rooms which adjoined each other. It worked very well.
The food was lovely, much of it made by the chef on the premises - we so looked forward to high tea that's served everyday!
But what makes the hotel extra special are the people that work there. Madre and Justine, who run the hotel, made us all very welcome and couldn't do enough to help us. Special mentions also go to Shadrack and Simon who served us with food and drink so generously.
Finally, the private tours (Winelands and Cape Point) arranged through the hotel with Rhino Tripping were well worth doing. Our guide John was excellent.
Looking forward to coming back....

Wow! what can we say except Manna Bay is indeed a 'fine' hotel. It is beautifully decorated with lots of areas to relax and enjoy the magnificent views, but the most wonderful aspect of the hotel is the staff. Madre made us so welcome, she had excelent local knowledge and not only recommended restaurants and places to visit but would book them as well. Shadrack is also a real asset to the hotel, his permanent smile and helpfulness was a great introduction to South Africa. Why stay in a large international hotel when you can have all this luxury and personal service at Manna Bay.
The breakfasts and high teas were divine!!

This place is a gem. We were picked up from Cape Town Airport by the complimentary transfer and landed at a fab boutique Hotel. Our room was ready for us even though we were early for check in. We were given some great advice about what to see and do and couldn't have stayed in a better place. The position is out of town but very close to Table Mountain.Breakfast was fabulous and all we needed to set us up for the day. The staff smiled from ear to ear and were SO charming. The room was fab and had it's own garden as well as an enormous double headed shower. Would highly recommend this place.

Mannabay was the first hotel we've been to in South Africa. We had 2 rooms: the black and white room and the explorer room. Both of them were very nice, clean with big bathrooms and great comfort.
All the team at the hotel was very helpful and very nice to us. Breakfast was the best we had in our entire stay!
High tea was very good too.

The only negative aspect we found could be the lack of soundproofing in the bedrooms when it comes to hearing other bedroom's doors closing or cars in the street. But that's really incindental and would not stop us from going there again!

Arrived in Cape Town to visit our daughter who was studying for a semester at UCT. Arrived with little luggage as had luggage stolen from car in Boston (long story..but police found it all !).
Madre the GM had forwarned the staff not to ask to many details about helping us carry our luggage in !!
We were had a warm greeting by Jean-Marie and Shandrack and they pointed us in the direction to to go shopping (as we need clothes for Kruger -- see Londolozi review to be posted).
Next morning we met Madre who also happened to be chef for breakfast. The warmth of the staff, beautiful settings just got us back into a wonderful frame of reference. We stayed for 4 nights and it was beyond wonderful (my point of reference for service is the Tokyo Okura in the 80s). We were in Explorer and had a great view of the City. The staff is beyond excellent. We had wonderful conversations with Madre, Jean-Marie, Shandrac and Simon. Manna is the idle place to stay... it was like having a private mansion in CTown.
Madre arranged for reservations at Millers Crossing for dinner and we had a great time (and went back again). THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY IN CAPE TOWN

Room Tip: Spend a little more and stay in Explorer...french door open to patio overlooking the City

From the moment we arrived and were served tea, the staff made us feel pampered and at home. Gorgeous place with beautiful views of Cape Town. We were treated royally and found the staff, particularly Jean-Marie and Shadrack, helpful and knowledgeable. Afternoon tea and breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. We would stay again in a heartbeat and would recommend to all.
