“Better than average Hilton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

This Hilton has large, comfortable, spotless rooms and a very convenient location.

The staff was friendly and helpful. A waiter returned the cell phone my husband forgot at the breakfast table, and on the last day, the manager got us a room to shower before we headed to the airport in the evening, even though we had checked out in the morning.

We stayed here in July 2011 for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff, room was beautiful with a view of Table mountain. Room seemed presentable at first however, there were a few missign items such as a pen and soaps in the batroom, also the toliet in the bathroom did not work properly, which we asked on many occasions to have fixed, Staff say they came in to fix it but the problem persisted. We were also given two single beds pushed together instead of a big double bed, which was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. We also asked for another room as we were not happy with the one we had, the morning staff was supposed to inform the night staff of this but did not, so upon arrival back at the hotel at 12 at night, we had to sort out the issue before going to bed, which was very inconvenient. The breakfast though was very good, lots of variety and the location of the hotel was prime, near the waterfront.

We were is disbelief this service was so bad!
Rose amazingly did not even look at us during check in and hardly even said a word! Rude, rude rude! We are HH honors diamond members and were staying in the executive level 2 bedroom suite so we can only imagine how bad the service during check in is for others staying! Rose honey - you don't deserve your seat let along your pay cheque!
Thankfully the concierge Mark and the drivers Andrew and Desmond were fabulous! (they scored a lot more tips than Rose!)
Executive lounge is very disappointing but Yummy was fantastic! (yes his name is Yummy!) service from Yummy was wonderful and he made us feel like we were at home.
Dont stay here, try Camps Bay! Gorgeous!
In room amenities were not replaced or replenished once during our 4 night stay and the drains had a very bad sewerage smell when we arrived. We called maintenance and they ran the water down the drain to clear it out. Clearly these rooms are not occupied very much and the cleaning team need a shake up.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom suite is big but no view.

During our stay we did not have any problems. The staff was very nice and helpful (especially the concierge and the drivers). There is a complimentary shuttle to the waterfront. We choose the breakfast option, and it was very good. Although the hotel is not big & fancy, it makes up with outstanding service.

Honestly wouldn't know why anyone would stay here, except if they can get HHonours points. (I'm a HH member) The overall impression of the hotel was hap-hazzard and cold. The exec-lounge is a total disaster compared to other (chains) hotels I've stayed at. On the plus side the suites are large and comfortable, moutain view rooms have a good view and the free shuttle is good. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Hilton Cape Town City Centre in August 2011 for 3 nights. The hotel is nicely located by Bo Kaap, a Cape Malay neighborhood and about 5 minutes walk to the Greenmarket Square. It is about 20 minutes drive from Cape Town International Airport and 10 minutes drive to the Table Mountain National Park. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to the V&A waterfront.

The check-in process was smooth and quick. While waiting to get our room keys, we were seated and offered a glass of orange juice (which was nice). Since I am a Hilton Honors (HH) member, they upgraded us to a better room with a view of the Table Mountain. As an HH member, we also had an access to the executive lounge. We made it there during cocktail hours, and they served cheese and olive trays along with complimentary wines and beers.

With the exception of the slow service, the breakfast selections were pretty good. We were advised that due to the hotel's close proximity to a Cape Malay neighborhood, no pork was served at the restaurant. I noticed that all breakfast sausages were either made of chicken or beef.

In short, we were pretty satisfied with the overall services. It is a reasonably priced hotel with all the things that we usually look for (executive lounge, gym, and good location).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the Table Mountain view -

This is a pleasant, if rather bland, corporate hotel. What makes it nice is the very good customer service and the location in the Muslim neighborhood of Cape Town. It is a charming location, very close to downtown and to all the sites. The hotel shuttle was very valuable for short trips around town. One note, the hotel serves only halal products, meaning no pork.
