“Nice food but not cheap but South African standards”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We had a lovely meal sitting in the Wharf overlooking table mountain. The food was good, well served and we had a great time. The thing to remember is that this restaurant is in Victoria Wharf so is not cheap by restaurant standards in the area (but still a lot cheaper than by UK standards so we were happy).

“Spot On!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

Our 1st true authentic South African cuisine...and it was definitely one of the most unique and best experiences ever. Service was simply "Spot On" and a special mention to Mr. Keeps who not just managed to impress me, but also my wife who's quite difficult to impress!

“Smoked Springbok - delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We ate at Karibu twice and were very pleased with the drink, food and the service. The atmosphere was friendly and none intrusive. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the size of the bill charged to my credit card. We would have no hestitation in eating there again. When we were there it was very windy, but there was an outside eating area.

“Excellent food at the Waterfront”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

In 2012 we visitet Capetown twice. in our opinion Karibu is one of the best restaurant in the Waterfront area. We enjoyed the excellent food, the friendly waiters and the excellent wine recommendations. If we compare with the restaurants in the same area; we always will select Karibu again.

“Average at Best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Our evening started with beautiful singing from African singers. This made us decide to dine at Karibu. First off we thought their prices were a bit heavy, but decided to give it a go. For starters we had the Calamari and the Snoek pate. Both were not bad, but didn't rock my world.

For mains we decided to go with what they called Devil's Peak, a combination of sausage, fillet and chops, and the Giant Venison Skewer. The chops were over cooked, the fillet was dry and the sausage was terrible. The Venison skewer had a terrible creamy sauce over it, which we found out to be Amarula. Didn't work as a combination.

After the mains we opted to rather just have coffee and skip the desserts. Service was average and the overall experience didn't impress me like other options in the V&A Waterfront.

Would I go back, probably not.
