“Great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We spent four nights in February at the One and Only Cape Town with a large group of friends - location, location, location!
The hotel is very nice and the concierge was excellent - we asked him to help us purchase two SA Springbok Rugby balls and he went out of his way to get them for us!!
We were happily surprised to find that the hotel has a Nobu Restaurant.

We hope that you managed to enjoy your favorite restaurant whilst you were visiting us! We are very proud of housing the only Nobu in Africa at our beautiful resort. Thank you for the special mention regarding our Concierge team; they always aim to go above and beyond and they are very pleased that they were able to add to your experience.

We stayed here in March 2013 at the beginning of our 3 week stay in South Africa. We picked this hotel because we wanted to start our holiday in style and it exceeded our expectations in every way;

The rooms are huge, immaculate and all have wonderful views/a balcony - our room faced the marina so we could see the penguins in the aquarium - which was a nice touch. The in room facilities are exactly what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

The service was outstanding, especially the front desk and concierge who gave us hints and tips on where to eat and what to do, they arranged all of our tickets to the local attractions table mountain etc and a car/driver for the day - which I would highly recommend as it enabled us to see most of the peninsular in 1 day eg cape point, camps bay, the penguins in boulders bay - as well as stopping for lunch and taking advance of the amazing south African wine.

The location was perfect; it's in a very safe part of town and a short walk to the waterfront - where you can get the ferry to Robben Island. You can see Table Mountain from the hotel bar in daylight hours!

The hotel restaurants were spectacular (Nobu and Reuben’s) - we ate in both and had a fabulous dining experience - in fact we would say the Nobu in the one&only is better than Mayfair!

So in summary, if you are looking for a luxury experience, in a safe part of town that’s walking distance to the waterfront then you should book this hotel. We had a truly wonderful time and a perfect start to our holiday. I cannot understand why anyone would rate this hotel as less than excellent. We can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are huge and have a balcony - the higher the floor the better the view - we were on th...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

If what you want (as we did) is a really very good / first class hotel, ideally located for the vibe of the Waterfront area, then this is it. It's truly up to One&Only standard we enjoyed a fabulous 5 nights here over the Easter weekend.

The only observation I'd make concerns the main restaurant. Gordon Ramsay recently closed here, and has been replaced as the Main restaurant by Rubens (a local celebrity chef). I suspect that time will also show that Rubens might also not work here. All hotels (no matter how great) require (& have) a general / family restaurant. Trying to combine a "celebrity" chef into the same restaurant is always going to lead to compromises of something (be that quality, ambience, service etc), and that is the case here. Although the food at dinner was very good, it somehow wasn't a "celebrity" dining experience that was in any way close to beings there with others. That said, the restaurant plays host to one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever had.

Would we return? Yes, for sure.

I have to say I was quite impressed by the One & Only in Cape Town. The location of the property is perfect - walking distance to many great shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful hotel sitting on the waterfront, with a great pool and waterways running through it. We had a view of Table Mountain and a large balcony (which is common at the hotel), so our views over room-service breakfast were breathtaking. But having spent time in many great hotels around the world, what completes the experience is the wonderful service that this hotel provides. Thumbs up; we loved it.

It is fantastic to see that you maximized your experience by utilizing your private balcony so effectively - the sweeping views of Table Mountain are certainly unsurpassable! Having the best location in the Waterfront and the largest heated infinity pool in the country has certainly put us on the map and we are thrilled that this added even more to your experience. Our service driven team eagerly awaits your return.

We stayed at the One and Only for three consecutive nights in the main hotel building. We had a great view of Table Mountain. Our room was very spacious, clean, quiet and well appointed. We especially liked the bathroom layout which gave us ample space. I really loved the shower, with the rain head and lots of water. We also enjoyed the in-room nespresso maker. The hotel pool was truly fantastic. When I make a return trip, I will seriously consider trying a room on the pool island.

We stayed at the One&Only Cape Town for two nights towards the end of a two week trip to South Africa. We drove there from safari and after being in the car for hours were so pleased with the fantastic welcome from the staff there. Our car and luggage were whisked away without fuss, we were checked in immediately and given a cold drink and hot wash towel to refresh us.
Our room overlooked the pool area and had a full Table Mountain view. It was a beautiful room with gorgeous bathroom and lovely big balcony. We were quite busy so didn't get chance to check out the pool but it looked fab and was by far the biggest pool we saw in any CT hotel - we stayed in two other 5* places that were nowhere near as good.
The food at Reuben's was delicious, varied and very good value for a posh hotel - just don't let the sommelier talk you into a £70 bottle of wine if it's not what you want! We had such a great night in there on the Saturday that we decided to go back there to dine on the Sunday too, which was equally superb - the seafood platter for two is worth the extra few pounds.
We enjoyed a couple's massage in the spa and I couldn't recommend it highly enough - the spa and its therapists were faultless. Because of our experience here, we would definitely go to other O&O resorts around the world and hope to come back to O&O CT one day too.
Some of the many brilliant staff that made our stay so special were Alex (who checked us in and made us feel exceptionally welcome) and Bradley and Agnes (who served us in Reuben's and made a great experience even better).
This hotel is certainly up there with the best we've ever had the pleasure to stay in.
