“Really nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

As other positive reviews have indicated, Villa Costa Rose is a really nice guest house. Solid floors keep it quiet and rooms are nicely furnished. Rob and Neil and the staff are very welcoming and breakfast is quite nice.

Being first-timers in South Africa, we (4 people) were unsure whether to stay downtown in a hotel or in a guest house just outside of town. Glad we opted for Villa Costa Rose in Sea Point. Sea Point is a really nice section of Cape Town and it was nice to be in a residential neighborhood. It is very safe and quiet and there are restaurants and a few shops just a block away.

We definitely would stay here again and recommend to all.

We can't even think of any better guesthouse in Cape Town. Neil and Rob were so incredibly friendly and helpful (they did almost everything for us just as ordering a taxi, reserving tables in nice restaurants and help us out by organizing our way on through S.A.). The rooms were pretty designed and the beds more than comfortable. I loved the breakfast outside at the pool which made a great start every day. We therefore came back again after spending 1,5 weeks at the garden route and it felt a bit like 'coming home'... :) BEST!

We visited for four nights in the superior suite. It is a lovely large room, with a big bathroom, and a comfy sitting area with TV, desk etc. The balcony was great and was equipped with a day bed, you could sit in the evening sunshine and review your day in wonderful Cape Town!
From the bathroom window there is a great view of Lions Head. The bed is of very good quality and very comfortable indeed. The linens were also of very high quality. Breakfasts were full of choice, a cold selection but everything you could need, cheese, meats, boiled eggs, jams, good bread, fruit, etc; very good indeed. Rob gives you all the info you need to get the best out of your stay in CT when you arrive, very helpful indeed. The location is perfect, you can walk safely to loads of good restaurants, the seafront is very close, you can drive to the city easily or to Table Mountain without even having to go through the centre. We thought it a great place, more like a small hotel than a typical B & B, and would recommend it. Rob also arranged a great tour for us to the Townships and the guest book has loads of info in it. Recommended.

Room Tip: Go for the suite with balcony - great to have your own outside space

We stayed in the superior queen terrace room for a week at the end of February. Villa Costa Rose was very modern and a lovely cool place to return to following a day in the African sun. Rob & Neil were both great hosts and very helpful if you had any questions. The continental breakfast was plentiful if a bit awkward to get at due to the covers. We loved our room with its small terrace with great views of Lion's Head, the air conditioning was fantastic and the room was always kept spotlessly clean(thanks ladies), it was also great to get laundry done and returned ironed the next day! Seapoint is the perfect base for exploring Cape Town and the surrounding area and it was great to walk two minutes around the corner at night for a lovely inexpensive dinner(would recommend La Boheme and Posticino but book in advance otherwise you'll have a long wait!) Will definitely return to Villa Costa Rose when we return to SA someday!

Dear Guests,

Thanks so much for your positive review. We realise that the 'covers' on our breakfast buffet are a slight problem, but much better than letting the flies feast on the food! This is Africa after all! LOL! But we have a solution in mind, and we are busy looking for a handy piece (or 2) of fold away furniture where covers, plates, etc., can be placed while guests serve themselves. We feel this is a much better solution than removing any of the food platters we currently offer, so please bear with us!

we had a 7 night stay at this lovely clean guest house staying in the superior suite which was very tastefully decorated, spacious and a lovely comfy bed,the balcony offering lovely late afternoon sunshine. Neil and Rob could not do enough for us and we will definatley use this guest house should we return to Cape Town.Enjoyed the very nice choice of contenental breakfast.

Room Tip: if you want space and a bit extra the superior suite is definatley worth the extra money.

First timer in South Africa and loved every minute of it. We spent 4 nights at Villa Costa Rose and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting next time. From the moment we checked in we were greeted with a smile and both Rob and Neil were very helpful. You can tell from the decoration and renovations they made that they really put their hearts and souls into this property and it shows in the details. They also provided us with a lot of information both verbally and in the room that basically got us to plan our whole trip including places to eat, beach, clubs, outdoor activities, etc..

Location is excellent and in a very safe area. We walked everywhere which was great and got us to experience the city fully. 1 minute walk from the promonade and a lot of stores. 20 minute walk from the waterfront, 25 minute walk from downtown. Only 5 minutes from the Hoppa bus stop #17 which you can then catch to tour the whole city.

We were also provided with a safe and insured cab company (InterCab) that we can call who picked us up and got paid by the meter. I was able to call them wherever we were and they would pick us up and drop us back at the hotel for very cheap prices. visiting South Africa, safety was a big concern for my wife and I and this helped a lot. The drivers knew exactly where the hotel is, no arguments about the rate at the end of a good night, etc..

After my first night, I did let Rob and Neil know that the shower head in my room had weak pressure and by the time I got back to the room that day, they had changed the shower head for a new one (only to find out the day after that rob changed it for his own personal one) WOW, can't beat that service...

Having worked in hotels and big chains all my life, I wasn't sure what to expect from a B&B but this one is five star all the way.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite on the top floor we stayed in was very spacious and beautiful. It also had a ba...
