“Great little gem in Cape Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

I stayed there for 2 nights while in Cape Town for work based on the trip advisor reviews I read. I loved it, it was like staying to someone's super stylish house.

My room was lovely and very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and attentive. They also gave me great restaurants recommendations: do try Beluga near the hotel. You get your first drink on the house as well!

The communal areas: breakfast room/ lounge, roof terrace and pool garden were lovely, the hotel was not busy and I was able to relax and enjoy my time there.

We came from a cruise and decided to stay a night in Cape Town. and here again Trip Advisor was a great help. We like small, nice hotels and this was one in gthe centre of Cape Town.
The staff was very helpful and advised us about restaurants, things to do in a short time etc.

Room Tip: We had a nice room on the first floor but think that the rooms at the swimming pool are nice also

I really rate this hotel after my recent stay and great experience. Very friendly staff and helpful to advise and assist in working out a schedule, nothing is too much trouble and there is a really relaxed feel to the place. Take up the 300 rand offer to / from airport as the cabs charge similar and you get piece of mind.

Stayed in the Villa Zest for 4 nights while attending a legal conference in Cape Town -- this small boutique hotel was just delightful as well as extremely well situated about 5 mins drive from the Conference Centre, and near some excellent restaurants. The Staff could not be more helpful, and did everything that was needed to enable me to work as well as attend the conference, and always with a genuine grace and a smile. Also although small, the room was very comfortable, and the lounge area where we had breakfast was delightful. The breakfasts were fabulous -- really were works of art as well as delicious food. And we highly appreciated the cafetiere in the room and the coffee to go with it. Thanks to all at the Villa Zest for making this a delightful stay.

Room Tip: We had a room just off the pool area-- as its autumn in April in Cape Town this was fine, but I woul...

The Villa Zest Boutique Hotel is THE place to stay at in Cape Town if you're looking for a real laidback ambiance and a 'homestyle' stay.
We spent 3 days in the mansion and were delighted by the warm welcome received, the attention to details engaged by the owners and the relaxing set up in a home which could feel like it was yours.

The retro decor is beyond cool, the bed comfortable, the breakfast tasty, but the best part of staying at Villa Zest was the experience. The staff go way above and beyond. Wine and nibbles in the garden by the firepit, booking restaurant reservations and excursion tickets, making wonderful and personalized suggestions for the next locations on our itinerary - they couldn't have done more for us, but they still wanted to try! I would love to stay here again.

We stayed there for one night on Easter Monday 2013.

Location: Close to the V&A and the city. It took us under 5 minutes to drive to the Waterfront complex and I guess that it would have taken about 15 minutes to walk. We were able to park the car on the road in front of the hotel.

Room/Bathroom: We were in the American Graffiti. Whilst it was clean and had very trendy furnishings, it was extremely small, approx. 3 x 4 meters and a miniature en-suite, approx. 1 x 2.5 meters. The bathroom was so small; there was no room to hang up the towels, so these were on a stand in the actual room. There was desk area, but the tea/coffee tray and modems took most of the space and although there was a designer chair, this was impractical because there was not enough space in the room. Two meters from the door of the room was the pool, had it been a nice day and other guest were using the pool I can imagine that it would have been quite noisy with no privacy in the room.

Breakfast: Good continental selection and a range of cooked options, including pancakes.

Hospitality of hosts: The welcome was friendly and the lady helped us with carrying our luggage to our room. We assume that the complimentary drink promised in Booking.com was the sparkling water we had in our room.

Our overall impression is that Villa Zest has focused on providing a modern and trendy atmosphere (which we like and have alo in our own house) but to achieve this, certainly in our room, they have done this at the expense of practical bits and pieces you need during a stay.
