“Fantastic Place to Stay! Service can't be beat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

This was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at! The room was modern and trendy yet still very plush and comfortable. The service (even at midnight when I arrived) was top notch offering me a welcome cocktail and preparing a very reasonably priced sandwich at 1:30 am. Breakfast was delicious and the owner was so accommodating. I had a late afternoon flight and she let me stay in the common area and work until 4pm. The furniture and patio area is beautifully kept and comfortable. Parking was also available for my rental car.

Affordable, awesome, definitely stay here!

This is a nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff (including Gilbert, the night porter); and excellent breakfasts. The rates are good value, particularly when they include extras such as a hire car (ready & waiting when we arrived) and champagne & cakes left in our room on my birthday.

The location is good. Close to the busy Somerset Road which has several restaurants, a deli, a good supermarket and liquor store. We were happy walking to and from the V&A waterfront but some may perhaps feel it is just a bit too far away from the main tourist centre.

Much has been said about the trendy design of Villa Zest. It's true that this does set it apart from other hotels and is generally a nice touch. The only problems we experienced were, however, down to design taking precedence over practicality.

Our sink had a trendy 'click in/click out' plug which, unfortunately, wouldn't stay in most of the time and when we finally got it in, wouldn't come out to empty the water. When the sink became overfull, water cascaded out from underneath (the overflow pipe appeared not to have been connected). My biggest bugbear was the shower: in order to maintain the minimalist feel, this had no soap tray or anywhere else to put anything. It looks very trendy but isn't very practical.

The swimming pool and garden looked OK but neither we, nor anybody else we saw, used either due to the weather.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, thought the staff were great and would recommend Villa Zest.

Room Tip: Our rear ground floor room was fine but comments made by another guest suggested some may be a bit s...

We arrived in Cape Town late at night after two long flights, and this could not have been a better place to begin our vacation in South Africa and Namibia. Our room was very large, beautifully designed and comfortable. We loved the breakfasts in the bright dining room/ living room. We want to thank the whole staff for a memorable stay. Michelle, the hotel manager, made our stay truly enjoyable.

Beautiful boutique hotel- have never met friendlier or more helpful staff, who went far beyond the call of duty to help and by the end felt more like friends than staff. Loved my stay here!

A quick phone call to the hotel reception organised our airport shuttle pick up from Cape Town and we were met on time and swiftly delivered to the Villa Zest Hotel.

Gilbert (Hotel Security / Porter / Knowledgebase & nice guy) met us at the door and took our bags into the hotel. The Hotel Manager Michelle then took my colleague and myself for a quick tour of the Hotel, ending at our rooms and explaining all features (Safe / Phone / Aircon etc) and of course our complimentary drink.

The hotel is chic with soul, as it only has 7 Guest Rooms (Doubles) it is small but very refined and extremely welcoming and we felt instantly at home.

Our two rooms were slightly different but very well arranged and laid out. The rooms were of a good size, well decorated and exceptionally clean. The bed was large and comfortable, there must have been a sale at the cushion shop as there were plenty of cushions. Everything worked and I had an absolutely fantastic sleep on all of the 3 nights I stayed, it was so quiet that I overslept twice. A pleasant change from the normal noisy hotel corridors and other guests.

The lounge area is very nicely laid out and can accommodate the hotel when it is full, the furniture is great including a fantastic "ball chair" which was my favouring. Breakfast was pretty much everything you could wish and one morning when they had run out of sausages (I was a late breakfast order as I'd overslept) Janice who I think is the assistant manager, ran to the shops and back and breakfast was quickly provided!

All of the staff we met were very friendly, encyclopaedia knowledge of what to do and where to go in and around Cape Town. They will hook you up with guides / timetables / tickets.

Food was great, other guests were great and the overall stay was excellent.

We didn't make Table Top Mountain as it was cloudy each morning, but we did got out for the wine tours and also a small Safari at the Fairy Glen Big 5 reserve which was fantastic.

Highly recommended hotel for business / friends / couples / solo (not too sure about family with kids as there is a pool in the back garden and other smaller water pools). It was winter when we arrived so too cold for me to swim but the pool was immaculate compared to the green pool of the next door residence.

Room Tip: My room as a garden view room and I didn't hear a thing from anyone or anything until I naturall...

Magnificent situation ! Just 10 minutes walk to Waterfront, 15 minutes to Stadium and just in Green Circle. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Very spacious and very good layout. Wi-Fi fast and free. They provide a laptop 24 hours. The breakfast are enough and very well
served. The quality of sleeping is perfect. Immaculate. Really: absolutely recommendable.

From the second we arrived until the moment we left, we were treated like family at Villa Zest. We were greeted with a brief tour of the property and our room and brought a welcome drink and refreshments. The breakfasts were great with a good selection of hot and cooked foods.

The staff there -Michelle, Gilbert (we wanted to bring him home with us!), Yanice (sp?)-were amazing. NOTHING was too much. No matter the question we had, we never felt like we were imposing. For example, Gilbert packed us a HUGE fresh breakfast for the morning we left really early for shark cage diving, my laundry was done (at no charge though I'm not sure this was an accident), the rooms were modern, clean and amazing, wifi connections really fast and it was safe, secure and quiet. On our last night, we even stayed up a bit later simply chatting away with Gilbert!

The location was great for restaurants, tour pickups and a walk to the waterfront (during the day or £3-£4 taxi ride at night). We don't take the time to do many reviews, but as regular travellers, when we experience the best service ever, we had to make a post. Simply put -stay here. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room on the bottom level near the pool. There were no other rooms on this level so...
