“Excellent Location, Friendly Staff, Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

Villa Zest is a small boutique hotel near the V&A waterfront in Cape Town, ZA. It is very trendy and modern, exceptionally clean with very friendly staff.

We stayed here January 2012 on a tour of South Africa and were VERY pleased with the service and rooms. We would recommend this to family and friends as a great hotel especially for the price.

Pros:
Really close to V&A waterfront (10-15min easy walk)
Really clean
Very helpful and polite staff
Great value for the money
Exceptionally quiet
Wonderful breakfast included
Free parking
Free WiFi
Nice pool

Cons:
Beware of Google maps, it places this hotel in the wrong location. Be sure to double check your directions.
The lowest room class can tend to be a bit small for you and all of your luggage, consider the higher room classes if available and within budget
For us it was a bit quiet, you feel almost as if you have the whole hotel to yourself. This is great for relaxing. Just thought I would note it as some folks may want a busier atmosphere.

Tips:
There are a few above (regarding room), other than that the Cape of Good Hope self drive is a must along with table mountain. Also we found out after we left that they have a cheetah rescue at a winery (called SPAR?), might be worth checking out. Also, if you are into this, the white shark cage diving is a great day trip.

Room Tip: Pool rooms are really nice but can be small if you have a lot of luggage, consider a room class upgr...

We had a great stay at Villa Zest! The staff is very helpful and friendly.
We had a room at the garden/pool area that was very nice, design and clean!
The pool area is very nice and relaxed! Also have great snacks and breakfast!
We had a perfect first and relaxed day of 2012 there!

Room Tip: The rooms at the garden are nice, think these are the deluxe rooms?

This small boutique hotel is a true gem of a find. With only 7 or 8 rooms, they great you as a person, not the person in room number 347. Attention to detail, immaculate rooms, AMAZING location. The internet was a touch unreliable, but with so much to do in the city, we didn't find ourselves in the room much. The salt water pool was a nice touch. Michelle and the staff were wonderful.

Really cool retro decor, great service and friendly staff, amazing outside area, comfortable and spacious rooms. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our visit to Cape Town and it really is a cool place.

Although we preferred the location and decor of the other hotel we stayed in (Derwent House - see my other review), this is just personal preference and I can't really fault this fab hotel. The only constructive point I would make is that I don't think they should recommend Biai restaurant in the V&A as it is over priced and there is much better seafood elsewhere in cape town.

Everything about the Villa Zest was wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The decor is retro 70s cool. The rooms are comfortable and incredibly clean. The location is great for walking to the V & A Waterfront and local restaurants. (The hotel's restaurant recommendations were suburb!)

The only drawback: the rooms by the pool can be a bit noisy at night if people are gathering outside for cocktails and conversation when the weather is nice.

I spent 3 nights here which extended to 4 when my flight home was cancelled but this caused no stress. The staff were wonderful, from booking attraction tickets to refilling my wine glass to printing my boarding pass.
The room was very comfortable (loved the ipod speaker) and breakfast was great. My only slight gripe was the inconsistent wi-fi connection in my room. Could always go to the lounge for a connection though and that was also a very pleasant place to pass some time.
Location was convenient for the V&A Waterfront.

We stayed three nights at Villa Zest and can't think of a bad thing to say. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower hot, and the bathrobes a nice extra touch! The room even had an iPod charger. It's an easy walk to the V&A Waterfront too. The continental breakfast is lovely; they'll even make you hot breakfast to order.

The best part about Villa Zest, though, is the staff. They go out of their way to make your time in Cape Town enjoyable. From restaurant recommendations to dinner reservations, directions to wineries and Cape Point, everyone was so helpful. We got lost on the way to dinner one night (we hadn't asked for directions), and when we called Villa Zest, they called the restaurant to notify we would be late and then helped us find our way. I'd absolutely recommend staying at Villa Zest.
