four of us stayed in the Cape Royal mid February 2013 for three nights, excellent service from all staff and the evening meals were to die for ( no pun intended), cannot fault this hotel, will definitely stay again.
easy access to the V and A waterfront (5 minute walk)

I was really impressed by the welcome I got as a Lady. Never had such a rapturous welcome from the staff. Loved the room , I was upgraded to a two bedroom apartment with all mod cons. First time on holiday that I have actually washed my cloths in the hotel Rooms are spacious and the bedding is divine.
The location was very central to the water front and nearby shops for food, meals etc.
Concierge was very helpful and even organised my solos tour to the Townships. Beautiful spa excellent service. I felt very relaxed after my two weeks holiday finishing with a facial and massage and hairdo at the neighboring salon meters away from the hotel. This place even had me considering long term rental !!

Room Tip: If you need dishwasher tablets or washing powder just ask reception who will efficiently deliver to...

Really nice hotel which as already stated was great value for money. We had a suite which was spacious ,clean and nicely decorated . Personally found the double bed a little small and uncomfortable. Very good breakfast and dinner from the restaurant.

On the negative side ,we had a room at the front and it was extremely noisy due to the nightclub below. We were only given one small bottle of water each and we tried to order room service three times (no mini bar) but no one turned up.

Dear Royal Guest,

Thank you for your review and for your comments. I am sorry to learn that you experienced noise issues during your stay with us. I will ensure this feedback is shared with ZAR in order to address.
Our standard is 1 bottle of water per person replensihed daily. The personalised Mini-Bar is offered at Check-in and filled upon request. Please rest assured I will follow up with Room Service and Reception as to why your requests went unfulfilled. This is certainly not our standard.

Once again thank you for your comments.

Our family of 4 stayed for 7 nights in early January. The staff here always treated us like royalty and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was ideal for such a long stay as we had loads of space, full kitchen plus laundry facilities. Breakfast, which was included in our rate, was amazing. The buffet was extremely comprehensive but we always had the option to order from the a la carte menu as well. We also had dinner at the restaurant one night which we rated very highly. We also ordered room service one night which arrived piping hot with generous serving sizes in a timely fashion. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to any friends or associates. The shuttle bus was tricky as you had to pre-book as there are limited seats available. My advice, book early and you won't miss out.

Dear Royal Guest,

Thank you kindly for your lovely review. I am so pleased that you had such a 'Royal' stay with us.
Thank you for your constructive feedback regarding the shuttle service. We find that pre-booking prevents disappointment as the service is so popular.

I hope you had a pleasant and safe journey back home to Australia and we would love to welcome you back, should you return to Cape Town.

Isn't a 5 star hotel ,but.....it's very near ! Very clean, good location, good services, beautiful rooms.Near Waterfront.Nice reception. But shuttle bus don't work very well. For two times we wait it 20 minutes. It don't coming, and we return at the hotel with taxi.I don't recomand you to go at Equinox SPA.Their Romantic pakage masage is only with oil, isn't profesionist and is very expansive. We don't enjoyed here.In same time, when we lived the hotel, reception was very pretty and help us to ambalate a wood african sculpture.

We booked 5 nights here as it offered the best rates for 5 star hotels in Cape Town city centre. The hotel is set opposite Green point and the Cape Town stadium and is an easy 10 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront (or there is a free hourly shuttle bus from the hotel). It is classed as a "residence" hotel so the rooms are a little unconventional in design but are very well equipped (include fridge, freezer, cooker and washing machine). We had a few noise issues as the wind (which was strong) whistled through the windows and there are big gaps between floors which means that late night / early morning noise travels more freely around the hotel. The hotel breakfast were great with a buffet element and a very impressive freshly cooked breakfast menu (including steak and fish options). There were plenty of staff who were all very friendly and willing to please although a little disorganised at times (not sure there was much management control). The views of Cape Town from the rooftop were fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor room at the rear of the hotel to minimise any potential noise issues.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your positive comments. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and would stay with us again...we look forward to it.

I do note you comments regarding the noise from the wind and will investigate this. I will also follow up on your comments regarding management control with the staff being disorganised. This is very concerning as management presence is a key focus for us, especially in the main guest areas, such as; the restaurant, lobby, sky bar and guest corridors. This is generally not the case.

Once again thank you for your comments and we do look forward to welcoming you back...hopefully in the not too distant future.

Stayed here with our family for four nights during the christmas time. It seems as if this hotel operates on two different worlds. Front desk, concierge was outstanding - searching for doctor giving helpful tips with very friendly service to all of us all along our stay - absolutely 5 star service.

We stayed in a very spacious two bedroom suite with large kitchen. The rooms are on lease base - somebody owning the share and letting it be leased by the hotel. Even if rooms have quite recently been renovated there were alreday quite a few signs of not keeping the rooms up to standard. No electricity until we asked this to be fixed, safety box was not funtioning etc. The most severe issue we faced as we kept the do not disturb sign on since my wife was ill. While sleeping a cleaner came in and was walking in the apartment. Once my wife woke up the cleaner quickly run out of the room - she did not even lock the door after escaping(as door doesnt lock automatically when closing). It seemed as if her purpose of the visit was not cleaning the room, especially keeping in mind that some others have experienced thieves... Also the cleaning quality and timing was absolutely not five star level. We addressed the cleaning level and our incident but this property manager never got back to us at all.

The pool area was really nice but water was below 20 degrees so not too appealing. The restaurant was great quality both on breakfast as well as dinners.

So if youre looking for a spacious room this is the place for your family with 5 minutes from V&A waterfront. But if youre looking for true five star experience and are normally demanding then you should stay elsewhere

Room Tip: ask for a room up floor. low floor and street facing rooms will be disturbed by traffic and the nigh...
