“De Tafelberg is an outstanding guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2010

We stayed at De Tafelberg for the fifth or sixth time in February. We have recommended this guesthouse to many friends and everyone has been as impressed as we are.

The beautiful house has been renovated by Kris to be luxurious and homey at the same time - quite a trick. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and professional.

Ann and Kris are knowledgeable, not only about Cape Town restaurants and sights - which is to be expected. But they have excellent ideas about visiting the townships and very good contacts to make sure you get a real sense of what life is like for millions of people less privileged than De Tafleberg guests. In addition their recommendations for visiting the Cape winelands are great.

Staying at De Tafelberg is like spending time with good friends or family members. Ann and Kris (and their kids) and their friendly and helpful staff, make your time in Cape Town a treat.

This place gets our highest possible recommendation. If you're going to be visitng Cape Town you'd be foolish not to check out De Tafelberg.

We enjoyed the warm hospitality of Ann and Kris in this beautiful house. The Tafelberg Guesthouse is very well situated with a wonderful view on Cape Town city from the splendid terrace.
We were very lucky to stay in the luxury 'suite' with Cape Town view, a heavenly kingsize bed and the double! shower. The breakfast is legendary, served on the terrace, especially the 'wentelteefjes'.
The rooms are comfortable and cosy. The private parking and a swimming pool are ideal for a relaxed stay.

Situated in a residential quiet area very near to the city centre we enjoyed the spectacular views from our room, during breakfast (sumptious, count extra time) and a relaxing stay at the swimming pool. Inside, you get submerged in the warm, colonial contemporary style. Great and impeccable furnished rooms and a huge living/reading-room where one can easily spend several hours going over the collection of books/guides with a nice background music.
Like the city this guesthouse breathes style, charm and cosiness. The family runs it in a very natural way, with quality info about the city, culture, places to visit, nice restaurants, beautiful nature spots, ...
Ideal stay to visit Cape Town, the coastal- and wine region.

As suggested by its name, the "Tafelberg Guesthouse" is situated on the slopes of Table Mountain and offers an amazing view on the city bowl of Cape Town.
Ever since we visited South Africa for the first time some 6 years ago, this beautiful guesthouse has to be on our list and always feels like a real "Home-away-from-Home"!

Having breakfast early in the morning overlooking the city and harbour on the terrace is really unforgettable.
Breakfast itself offers an incredible buffet of juices, freshly made fruit salad, jams, cereals a variety of bread and rolls, loads of coffee or tea...and the list goes on...and then: there are the bacon and eggs, prepared to your personal taste (don't miss these items) !

The rooms are all nicely decorated and have have their private bathrooms.
All rooms offer the necessary luxury (minibar with a variety of drinks, tea and coffee making facilities)
To relax, one can quietly sit and read a book in the great living room area or just take a swim in the pool.

Ann and Kris are excellent hosts, always prepared to help you out with that booking (and Cape Town has an abundance of great places to eat or visit!), suggestion for a trip or whathever tiny question or problem you might have.

Thanks- again - to both for the perfect stays!

We have been there many times before, and each time we enjoy the fantastic location near De Tafelberg and the beautiful view over the city and the ocean.
The breakfast is always scrumptious with delicious South African and Belgian specialties. Ann and Kris give good advice concerning restaurants, trips, etc.
They and their children have become friends, and do everything they can to give a helping hand with the luggage and to make sure you get a good spot on the secure parking place.
Once you start talking to them, do not look at your watch because time flies.

I have had the pleasure of staying a few times at Ann & Kris' wonderful place during my annual biztrip to S.Africa. Each and every arrival at Molteno Road 68 feels like coming home. The warm welcome, excellent rooms, and not to forget the breathtaking view over the Mother city, the port and the Cape Bay, whilst enjoying a superb breakfast on the patio, is simply unforgettable.Very friendly and accomodating owners and staff.
Simply the place to be whenever in Capetown!
