“Overall STUNNING!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

I was celebrating a birthday in SA and brought over two of my American friends (their 1st visit to South Africa) so was very important to impress them with our beautiful country and of course stunning views, accommodations and friendly people. All and more were found here at Bateleurs Theresa....thank you so much Zonia and Trix for an awesome few days. We will be back and recommend to all South Africans too.
Cheers Dale Bloom Taylor Maple Glen, PA USA

My sister and myself stayed in this guesthouse for 4 days. When we arrived we were welcomed by Zonia and her sister Trix. We felt so welcome right away ! We asked Zonia if she could make a reservation for lunch in a restaurant close by. She came back about 45 minutes later bringing us a nice salad and tasty pasta....it appeared the restaurant was closed and Zonia prepared something for us herself ! This was even better : eating on our private deck with a view on the Atlantic Ocean like you've never seen before. We stayed in the self catering Ocean Room which was spacious and decorated with taste. Zonia stocked our fridge so we did not have to do any shopping. When she went to the supermarket 2 days later she asked us if she could bring us anything : I call this 6 star service ! The room is lovely, spacious and with lot's of attention to detail like a bag with 2 beach towels and a beach mat, all necessary amenities in the bathroom, fresh flowers etc. Zonia and trix, thank you for your great hospitality and warmth. One thing to mention for future guests : the guesthouse will be closed from march till october in the future but if you are traveling to Cape Town between november 1st and february 28th, go there !

Me and my husband stayed at the Bateleurs teresa for three nights (5-7 February) to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We have enjoyed every minute we have spent in these three days. The fantastic and breathtaking views with the most quiet and safe surroundings and the most beautiful arranged breakfast any one would dream of. Most importantly, we have been overwhelmed with the kind hospitality of Zonia, the owner/manager and her sister Trix. We felt their warm welcome and friendship as if we knew them for a long time. What attracted and admired us most are their neat and beautiful touches all over the place. We had the African room. It was marvellous and makes you get the feel of the African life.
Thank you Zonia for taking care of us and definitley we will come back.

Room Tip: The African Room would be an excellent choice.

Our stay was a pleasure - with nothing too much trouble for our hosts.
The room was clean and very well-appointed, the view from the pool and terrace breathtaking, and the breakfast more than enough to set one up for the day!

Amazing views, clean and spacious room (Ocean View room), very quiet, working a/c (eventually!). Hot tub not working. Lack of communication. We didn't know the hot tub wouldn't be working until arrival. The manager insisted that she had emailed to let us know but this was not the case. Breakfast was filling - not great cooked breakfast though. The kitchen girls didn't really know what they were doing. Upon check out we paid by card and then a 'goodbye' letter was handed to us stating that if we were to pay by cash we could get 5% off!

There was no welcome pack upon arrival with information regarding restaurants/maps into town/buses etc. It was a 35 minute walk down the hill to get to the beach. It would have been good if they had a shuttle bus/taxi at least one way.

This is supposed to be a 4/5* accommodation. The manager was away and there was a replacement who did her best but didn't know the ropes too well. The whole package is definitely not a 4/5*. The actual manager was very rude and condescending when we asked for a discount due to the hot tub not working.

After following the winding, twisty roads of Cape Town proper, over the ‘Neck’, down the other side, you are suddenly exposed to an overwhelmingly wide vista of the Atlantic Ocean. You can actually see the curvature of the globe. It takes your breath away.
At the end of a road is a very steep driveway to your destination: Bateleurs Guest House. My room was the African, quite private from the rest. It has its own deck from which to watch for dolphins, whales and the paragliders launching themselves from Leeukop. I think if more people knew that whales were here in wintertime, it wouldn’t have been such a restful time for me.
There is a bathroom with both shower and tub, a fully-functioning kitchen for those who prefer to eat in rather than out. A basket full of goodies (salt and sweet) awaits tired travellers. A king-size bed is ready to accept your weary body.
Surrounding Bateleurs Theresa is the magnificent natural Fynbos ecosystem, endemic to the Cape. There is a hiking trail right next to the property. As the region is very mountainous, it is quite steep, but well-worth the effort. There is even a little stream during the wetter winter months from which you can enjoy crystal clear, sweet mountain water, better that any fancy bottled water in the world.
The supremely friendly owners of the guesthouse are there to advise you and assist you if you require anything. They are very knowledgeable about what is happening in and around town, which restaurants are better than others and what activities are available.
Unfortunately, I am one of the last guests they will have during the off-season winter months as they will only be open for business during September ~ December in the future.
Viva Bateleurs Theresa, viva!

We had a wonderful three nights here. The location is truly stunning, set high on Camps Bay with the ocean below and the Twelve Apostles behind. To maximise the benefits of staying here, we had a braai (barbeque) on two of our three nights, enjoying the wonderful landscape. The other memorable feature of our stay was the welcome from Zania and Jasper who could not have been more hospitable and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and we had our own outside area with jacussi and small garden. Highly recommended.
