Thoroughly recommended. The attention to detail in the decor is superb, the minibar inexpensively stocked and the breakfast delicious. Camps Bay is a lively and good looking part of Cape Town with excellent restaurants. I can particularly recommend The Codfather (despite the name) for fresh seafood of all descriptions.

We spent three nights at 51 on Camps Bay Guesthouse and enjoyed it thoroughly. The location is perfect. Just high enough that you get a great view of the ocean, but still just a short walk to restaurants the the beach. Merryl and Steve were wonderful hosts. Breakfast started with a bowl of fruit and then transitioned to either cereal or eggs with tomatoes and mushrooms. Merryl prides herself on the extra touches, and they show. Perfectly arranged sprigs of lavender were placed in our room each morning. Even the sugar on the breakfast table had Merryl's decorator touch. We even enjoyed our fellow guests and had great conversation each morning. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to my friends.

The accommodation certainly lived up to expectations and the location was good, just 10 mins walk into Camps Bay with its array of excellent restaurants and lovely beach. Merryl and Steve were very helpful without being intrusive - happy to provide tips on what to do and where to eat out. The only thing they couldn't do was sort out the weather but we still had a great time!

My husband and I honeymooned in Cape Town, South Africa just a few weeks ago. This was a first time for either of us going to South Africa. We are both well-traveled and have stayed at some of the finest places around the world. 51 on Camps Bay by far topped the list!

Merryl and her husband, Steve, were two of the friendliest people we had encountered. They are the owners of the establishment. They run a very immaculately kept guest house with beautiful rooms are that modernly decorated and yet have that very home-y feel that you are looking for when you are far away from home. From the moment we booked with 51 on Camps Bay, Merryl was very attentive to our questions and concerns about traveling somewhere we'd never been before (answering questions for us about game drives, car rentals and electric converters and offering to rent the car for us or go out and get us an appropriate electric converter). She was an absolute doll and just incredibly gracious. Only 4 guest rooms in the guest house makes for a very nice and intimate feel without feeling like you are intruding upon the other guests OR they on you.

Staying at 51 on Camps Bay really made our honeymoon. While in Cape Town, we traveled all over, and 51 on Camps Bay felt like our home there and our mainstay. It was truly an incredible experience for us! The personal attention that Merryl and her husband offer were over the top and incredibly superb! We would highly recommend that anyone look into 51 on Camps Bay, especially if you are just tired of the impersonal attention from a large hotel staff. This is really the best place to stay in all of Cape Town. Aside from the perfect accommodations, the Camps Bay area is absolutely stunning with access to the beach just a stone's throw away, and you can watch beautiful sunsets from the balcony of 51 on Camps Bay! We HIGHLY recommend this place and will definitely stay here again upon our next trip to Cape Town!

Great location in Camps Bay, within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. It is worth spending a few extra rands on taxis even if you are planning to spend most of your time in the center of Cape Town. The Guesthouse have beautifull individually designed large rooms with bathrooms to die for... Very friendly atmosphere, helpfull staff and nice breakfast cooked to your liking. A small pool area and a balcony with view over the Bay - perfect for a sunset drink after a long day! One of the best BB's we stayed in during our 3 weeks in South Africa - deserve a 5th star!

We stayed at 51 for 6 nights at the end of Jan at the end of our 2 weeks holiday in SA and couldn't have wished for anywhere better to stay.

We booked the Deluxe Suite which has a wrap around balcony with views of the ocean and the bay. It has a 4 poster bed, walk in wardrobe and huge bathroom with double shower!
The guest house has just the 4 rooms and is very cosy and the staff very friendly and helpful - offering advice and tips on things to do and see and restaurant recommendations.

Camps Bay itself is a wonderful little area with plenty of restaurants and bars. The beach is lovely although open to the strong winds so we travelled a little further around to the beaches at Clifton which are sheltered.

The guesthouse itself was everything we had hoped for, the breakfasts wonderful and the owner, Merryl as helpful as anyone we'd ever met on our holiday. If we were to return to Cape Town and Camps Bay (which we will) we would definitely stay at 51 on Camps again.

Everything written here has been spot on. We spent five days in Cape Town at 51 on Camps Bay and our stay couldn't have been better spent.

Our deluxe ocean suite was fantastic. The room was beautiful and well appointed. The added touch of fresh lavender when we arrived was especially nice.

The view over Camps Bay was fantastic and it's just a short walk to some great restaurants, shops, etc. Our breakfasts each morning were tasty and well prepared. But the highlight, as mentioned by so many others, was Corrie's hospitality. Not only was he there to greet us the night of our arrival, he was there every morning with a pot of coffee in hand, ready to provide helpful advise for the day.

We're very happy to have found 51 on Camps Bay and would highly recommend it.
