“Always a good steak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

We had dinner in the Hussar Grill and can recommend it highly. The atmosphere is special, service is friendly and the food is excellent. A steak is not always a steak and the Hussar Grill makes it a delicious event.

“Really good steak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Go for the steak and avoid the puddings as they are dire . However the steak and the service is really great and although the building is a it pre-fab the service and the wonderful steak soon make you forget this - just don't eat the cheesecake as it is most likely bought in from the local supermarket frozen and tastes like it too!

“Best "meat" house in Camps Bay, not good for vegetarians!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

I'm giving this 5 stars for the quality of meat and meat choices, along with the delicious tasting food, and great service. 5 stars is NOT for variety, because there are very little options for vegetarians, so don't come here if you don't like meat!

We sat at the bar, because we were foolish and didn't make a reservation. There was an hour wait for a table, so we sat at open bar stools, had some beers, and ordered dinner from the bartender. He was very quick, helped us with menu questions, and delivered the food quickly. We had several menu items: rare beef carppaccio as an appetizer was delicious. I liked this much better than the sausage soup. For meals, we had 2 of the wild game fresh catches, one of which was wildebeest. It was very tasty, similar to a stronger pungent beef steak. My friend had a cheese stuffed filet mignon, which was also delicious. For dessert, we had cheesecake which was fantastic, and chocolate truffle balls which were also phenomenal. I definitely recommend this place for meat eaters! And make a reservation, they fill up quick! Goes to show you how great it is.

“Not great for us”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We really must of had a bad day here as I can't believe i'm the only one out of so many good reviews. The restaurant is situated up the hill from the main strip and is a long walk up hill so drive if you can. It is situated in what i would describe as a 70s prefab building so not attractive. We went on boxing day and looked quite full. We went straight for the mains and I had 300g Chateaubriand and my wife had the greek salad. The steak was served on its own in the middle of the plate with a small bowl of bernaise sauce. There was also a brandy sauce on the side which was poured over the steak and flamed at the table. The flame actually blackened the outside of the meat and produced an unpleasnat burnt taste. The sauce was like water and ran all over the plate and didnt really taste pleasant. A small amount of fries were served in a metal plant pot type container. They were packed in and just steamed so were soft. They couldnt be tipped on the plate as it was full of the watery sauce. Squeezing the fries between your fingers and oil dripped out not pleasant. The oil tasted a bit stale as well. My wife had the greek salad (i know not a great choice in a meat restaurant) and she described it as the worst greek salad she's ever had. From what i saw i would agree. The feta, olives and tomatoes were all mashed together in a big clump in the centre of the plate coated in a white yoghurt sauce and lettuce leaves were arranged on the outside.

“Excellent meat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Very good meat. We had dinner there.
It's unfortunate that the vegetable selection was very small though.
