“First time safari”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

We visited Pilanesberg National Park mid December and decided to book a 2-sleeper chalet at Manyane Resort. Only two negative points: 1) Upon arrival we were first told that the key was missing, then after a 30 minutes wait, we were told that the key doesn't work properly and therefore we will be put into a 4-sleeper chalet for the first night ( out of two). A bit puzzled about the loss of keys, but quite happy to get a bigger chalet for the same price, and we managed to convince them that there's no point in moving chalets for one night, and they didn't argue with us when we said we wouldn't be paying more for the bigger chalet, as the fault was on their side.
2) The pools looked very unclean, green-ish colour. My partner used the one close to the chalet, I didn't trust the water myself.

Apart from the above two points, we had an amazing experience. The chalet itself was very clean, spacious enough for two (would have been a squeeze for 4), nicely furnished etc. We didn't try out the restaurant apart for buying coffee in the morning, but that coffee was very nice. :) Situated perfectly at the entrance of the National Park. Couldn't have asked for much more and have already recommended the resort to friends and family.

Management does not take care of the facilities as they are not kept in good condition. We were there in December 13, the main swimming pool was green and when referred to the one at the chalets, it was nearly just as bad. The maintenance of the chalets and furniture should also be checked as they are not in mint condition for an international resort. I must add that the personnel are really friendly and assist where they can. There was no complaints about the food it was very good, picked up a few kilos

Room Tip: When looking for a 4 bed sleeper, rather book a 6 sleeper as the second 2 sleeps are in the loft and...

The location is magic but simple things make a big difference, like making sure the taps in the showers work and changing the shower heads as some are missing and most of them are so old and broken it’s like standing in the morning mist. The showers at the pool have no taps or shower head at all, come on look after the place. Also the pool water is very merky and the waiter service very slow and apathetic, shops have no stock cant even get a cold water or a coke. These are such simple things to fix, all down to people and attitude. Generally very poor camp management

Room Tip: the safari tents are magic and adequate with a fridge and kettle cant complain magic views and envir...

Being an avid camper, and loving the bush, we decided to give Manyane camp in Pilanesberg another try after being not completely satisfied last time around 2years ago
Unfortunately it has gone from bad to worse. The camp is poorly run with roads all over the campsite , no demarcation, or grass limited facilities and the camp-shop not keeping basic amenities like fresh water or ice cream.
It used to be well administered and managed, but not anymore
The game reserve itself has seen a bit of an upgrade with the roads in good condition, though the toilets at the lookouts are dirty and not sanitized

Very basic and big which accommodated a large group that we were. Restaurant is alright may need a bigger screen for sport viewing in the bar area. Enjoyed my stay but didn't get to do a game drive. stuff were awesome n very accommodating especially when i needed jump start.

The campsites were clean and very well sized. It is not worthwhile geitting an electrified site unless you have a 100m extension cord! Not all sites are close to a tap. One shower and two loos is not enough for the camp site. But the biggest problem was that people were drinking and behaving inappropriately and there was no monitoring or rule enforcement. Watched a grown man go full frontal next to the kids paddling pool!
