“Excellent place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

We stayed over with friends at Waterfront guestfarm on our way to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
We arrived in the afternoon and were welcomed by the very friendly and considerate owner Brunhilde. She showed us to the nicely decorated rooms with everything including a minibar. In the lounge you could also make tea and coffee and there were fridges with cool drinks and beer and wine you could order. Some of us did water activities at the river, they didn't charge us anything for that. In the evening the husband made a braii and made steaks to perfection. The table was laid at the riverbank with white tablecloth, serviettes and candle ligths. The food was excellent, salads, vegetables, steaks and roosterkoeks. Breakfast also excellent. We felt very welcome and will definitely stay there again next time we visit the area.

We were at waterfront guestfarm before and after our visit of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Our host made us a real braai. As we speak dutch and the other guest Afrikaans we had a really good time trying to understand each other. Anna made us some lovely roosterkoek. We had a nice and clean room. Unfortunately a group of other guest made a lot of noise in the lounge our second night.

My partner and I stopped here for some R&R en route to the Kalahari desert, where we are conducting wildlife research. This was a most welcome stop in a gorgeous, unpretentious, and chilled setting along the Orange. Our afternoons consisted of refreshing dips in the pool (with gin & tonics), a jet-ski tour of the river, and general lazing about/nature watching in perfect weather. Our hosts made us feel completely welcome and put on the most amazing candlelit dinner by the river, complete with delicious nibbly appetizers and a tenderloin braai, cooked to perfection! Our hosts were most accommodating when we had unusual requests, such as staying well past check out time to fix our land cruiser! I can't recommend this enough- such a fantastic way to start or end your journey from much more rustic Kalahari settings!

From the moment the owners picked us up from Upington Airport we were made to feel like special guests. On arrival at the guest farm our luggage was taken promptly to our rooms. The rooms were a delight, being well appointed with their our ensuite bathrooms, and were very pretty. The AC worked very well and was quiet.

The guest farm has a beautiful garden and swimming pool area which extend down to the banks of the river. There are a range of chairs and loungers for relaxing. The birds in the garden were a real treat.

We had asked for dinner to be includer. This was quite a feast of excellent food, including melt-in-your-mouth fillet steak. The dinner was served out in the garden near to the river, lovely lanterns were hung around for atmosphere and a bug lamp was hung discreetly in a near by tree to prevent us being pested by moths and mosquitos. The whole evening was very memorable and we appreciated the amount of hospitality that was shown to us.

We also had a very good cooked breakfast in the morning, there is no need to feel hungry at the guest farm.

The booking was made via the web and was handled speedily, efficiently and reliably. With consideration being given over the problem of payment from a different country, because cash transfers from the UK to South Africa can prove to be expensive.

We found the guest farm to be very reasonably priced considering the quality you received.

The only regret we had about our stay at the Warerfront Guest Farm was that we were only staying one night, when we return we will make it longer.

We originally had booked somewhere else but when we arrived they were full and could not find our booking. They sent us to the Waterfront Guest Farm and we couldn't have been happier.

Nice location on the riverbank with a great pool area, rooms were good with AC and we had a large cooked breakfast in the morning. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, she even drove us into town for dinner and came back later to pick us up.
