“Back in Time - Take Yourself There.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

The Kimberley Club is right up there with Raffles, Singapore and The Peninsular,Hong Kong. One of the classic Colonial era icons in which the likes of Be Beers and Rhodes frequented in their day. Kimberley is a little out of the way, but if you're here, visiting this iconic and historic club of South Africa's diamond mining heyday is a must. Plenty of photos on the walls of the old days to keep you busy. The under used (in my opinion) restaurant serves great food with friendly and efficient service. Definitely worth it even if just to say you've been there.

I spent four days staying in the annex across the road while doing family history research. The room was well furnished and comfortable, but the bedside lights were not bright enough for reading. While there were nice touches such as a copy of the next day's weather forcast placed on the pillow each day, basic information such as information about services in the hotel or the available tv channels was not provided. Also some of the channels on the tv did not appear to be properly tuned. The main building is a lovely old historical building and has a very 'colonial' feel. The meals and service were generally good. While I enjoyed the experience of staying here, and would like to give it a 3.5 rating, in future I think I might try a B & B next time.

Room Tip: Probably better to stay in the main building

History comes at you from every corner. Though it does feel like being back at boarding school with the Victorian fittings and architecture. V helpful staff and the bar was the perfect place to while away an hour or two with a book. Nice room and great breakfast. We ate in the main dining room one evening. Lovely food. They just could do with getting a dimmer switch for the lights. The brightness rather killed any ambiance.

This hotel was worth travelling all the way to Kimberley for.It is part of the Gentlemens Club and steeped in history. The service, furnishings, comfort levels were second to none. We ate in the restaurant during our stay and again the service, food & wine quality and choice were unparallled.
This was a superior place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

My stay at the Kimberley Club was a special visit retracing my Grandparents and relations who came from Kimberley. Staying at the club was very comfortable and gave me a wonderful glimpse of what life was like in Kimberley in the early 1900's but at the same time meeting the needs of the 21st Century Traveller. The staff at the Club could not have been more helpful or informative and dinner was excellent. If stopping in Kimberley go and experience the club and see the wonderful collection of photographs hanging on the walls.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The carpark is on the opposite side of the street and the club is well gated. The checking in went snoothly and the restaurant was cheap and cheery but the food quality was very mediocre. The bar & lounge area needs a little work on providing service. There was a meeting taking place at the bar so the paying guests were ignored. The television had an unacceptable reception. The public toilets were clean and nicely smelling. The room was tiny and the bed was more for a small child than two grown adults the bathroom was very old style. The breakfast was okay but a little slow. All in all the stay was okay but only for one night

The Kimberley Club immediately took us back to the Imperial era .From the walls to very inch there was history all around.
I stayed in the annexxe complex A2 room and it was like a luxurious flat with a kitchen and dining a fireplace , sofa sets, furnitures , etc. Good clean facilities,.
I wished I was with my family.Since South AFrica was busy with Football season and we had little time so could not explore.
The Club house bar was fantastic ..reminded of grea days the guys had.
We had dinner and beliwve me the food was excellent and the service as well was truly world class.
Pls visit and taste this piece of history.
