I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times whilst driving from Cape Town to the Kruger Park and back and is convenient because it is approximately halfway between the two.
Obviously, Kimberley benefits from having the added attraction of having the 'Big Hole', which is well worth a visit since it has been upgraded / modernised.
The hotel itself is rather non descript, the rooms are OK, but require maintenance.
Even though we chose a smoking room, we were surprised at the amount of level of stale smoke in the room (far more than any other smoking room we have ever used).
Opening the curtains to look for the view we found a window cracked.
As we were only stopping overnight after a long drive, there was no point in trying to seek an alternative room.
The location of a Spur restaurant within the hotel building is convenient and as you would expect competively priced.
Breakfast at the Hotel is simply bad, no other word to describe it.
Check out is a disaster we phoned for a bell boy to help with our luggage which never arrived. I eventually went to the reception area and grabbed a trolley myself and we simply took all of our bags and loaded the car without one offer of help or assistance from the staff.
The only person who even noticed us, the doorman simply smiled and advised us there was no bell boy in the hotel. Strange then the when we phoned recepttion the bell boy "was on his way". Perhaps from another hotel?
In summary, this facility is usefu simply for somewhere to sleep and get a bite to eat in the evening and to sleep before moving on in the morning, nothing else.
