Everything about Lukimbi is amazing, from food and wine to location to room quality. But the most amazing thing is the people. We stayed for three nights with our two children (7 and 10) and somehow the team managed to achieve the almost impossible of keeping us all happy all of the time, whilst still allowing us to enjoy being a family together. Our ranger and tracker (Byron and Stranger) were fantastic, answering endless questions and teaching all of us loads of things while also going above and beyond to achieve amazing sightings. The kids also had some time during the day just with the ranger and it was apparent very quickly that they did not want us to be a part of this special time! There is only one problem with Lukimbi and that is that you have to leave.

This was one of three safaris we did in Africa and Lukimbi was our favorite of them all. The staff truly handled us and our needs very well and they have created what we thought was the perfect experience. We had early morning and late afternoon drives to maximize the animal interaction. The guides were knowledgeable about everything from the animals' natures to the plants and the status of the park's animal population to the impact of the weather to, well, everything. And believe me, we checked. Guide books and Wikipedia verified it all. Our room (hut number one) was just wonderful. A big bath and comfortable everything. We could watch the animals at the watering hole from our soaking tub or from our tree shaded balcony. The morning we left, we abandoned our packing to video a pack of seven elephants, including two babies, come down to drink and play in the water.

We saw the big five several times in addition to cheetahs and lions and leopards. Apparently this end of the park lends itself to that. We also took a walking tour to the river one day and witnessed two male hippos in an ongoing pitched battle over the herd. Storks and eagles flew overhead while we videotaped it. Lots of impala, giraffe, kudu, mongoose, etc.

The food here was excellent and the service very impressive. These people know what they are doing and all of them (guides to front desk to wait staff to cleaning) work together to ensure your visit is as perfect as it can be.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms have a watering hole view so it probably doesn't matter. We were the first...

Great accommodations, lovely surroundings, professional and very capable staff. We stayed there for 3 days and every day was a great adventure. We were able to see the BIG 5, enjoyed spectacular views, taste wonderful food produced by very young and aspiring chef. Our guide Zane and tracker Norman turned out to be an incredible duo; knowledgeable, effective and fun to travel with. We recommend this lodge with all sincerely.

We stayed in Lukimbi 3 nights and were totally in love with the place. The lodge was fantastic. Our room was big with wonderful bathroom and outdoor shower. Food was absolutely delicious all the time. We had a BBQ night that they usually do on Fridays and it was fantastic experience with local music and some mouthwatering game meat. The game viewing was really good...lots of lions, leopards, wild dogs, black&white rhino, elephants, giraffes and many many more thanks to Darryn and Stranger.

A private reserve located within Kruger. Excellent place for game viewing. Within 3 days we saw all big 5 plus plenty of other animals. Bush walks when you are on equal footing with animals are the most exciting way to experience the environment. Food and accommodations are great. Our team of ranger/tracker (Zane/Norman) was wonderful.

We spent 3 nights in Lukimbi (also spent 2 nights in Idube in Sabi Sands). We were greeted by the friendly staff as soon as we arrived, everything was well taken care off. Our room was awesome and relaxing. A couple of elephants were right in our backyard one of the days and it was just great to sit on the patio and watch them. The food is very good and if you never have you will probably get to try meat like Kudu, Onyx, Wart Hog etc. (they also had other more traditional choices). The staff are professional and friendly. Game viewing is good and we got to see lots of animals, including lions feasting on a Rhino. If you are a first time safari person like we were, I would recommend doing both Likumbi and Idube (or some place in Sabi Sands). Idube is in Sabi sands and we saw the Big Five there, but at Lukimbi only saw three (lions, elephants and Rhino), though you see larger groups of animals we saw tons of giraffe, hippos, rhinos etc.)as kruger is more open than Sabi and you also see more birds in kruger. Our ranger (Darryn) and tracker (Stranger) were also very nice and helpful. Overall, my wife and I had a great time.

I had a short time to visit Kruger (just one overnight) and I wanted a place that could provide the best experience in a limited time. Lukimbi was perfect in every way. After arriving, I didn't have to think about any aspect of my time in Kruger. The accomodations were meticulously clean, spacious and luxurious. The meals had a nice variety of dishes for any taste. I enjoyed the fresh fruits, vegetables and cheese that complimented the meals. The game drives were spectacular. We were allowed to take our time. The guide was very interactive with those on the drive. And we had plenty of room on the vehicle to get the best views. I was traveling alone and I was worried this might be awkward, but the staff went out of their way to engage me and make me feel comfortable. I highly recommend this experience. It may seem pricey. But I think the value for money is good, especially if you have limited time to spend in Kruger.
