“The best resort is SA by far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

Love every moment of all our visits at Alpine Heath. From the second we stop at the entrance we feel so relaxed and there is so much to do for the whole family. Recommend it to everybody & anybody. Just wish it wasn't so expensive... Then we would go more often.

Took my team of 37 to the resort for 2 days during February 2014. On arrival at the main gate I was greeted by a security guard by the name of Praisegod. What a breath of fresh air he is. Friendly, polite, funny and probably the resort's best ambassador. Equally so on the day we left. He remembered me by my name.
The resort has many facilities and for a family there is plenty to do. Our conference venue was adequate, although we had to deal with a leaking roof and air conditioning that didn't always work. Throughout the conference we had excellent food, although some of the waiters seemed irritated when we asked for more than one wine list at a table of 12. On 2 other occasions we had to get up and fetch our own menus as no one came to serve us. Conference staff was efficient and friendly and was always eager to assist.
I found the chalet décor slightly dated, but I guess that is what all resorts/ time share units look like.

Room Tip: Chalet 28 has no other chalets in front of it, and you'll have a beautiful view of the mountains...

I have slept at Alpine Heath in a number of occasions over the years. The "wow" effect it used to have, is dwindling away. For the amount of money one spends, the service is average. However, staff members are polite and friendly. Room and campus maintenance is certainly up to scratch.
In my recent visit I was disappointed by the worn out couches in the living room. They look as though a dog literally ate the covering fabric. Surely they did not get to that condition overnight!! It is quite a shock - particularly for an establishment that is part of a large hotel group (The Three Cities).
With the scenic mountain range in the surrounds, I would recommend Alpine Heath for someone who wants to spend more time outdoors.

This resort used to be fantastic in every sense of the word. I booked a December vac there for my kids and parents and was extremely disappointed. Housekeeping needs serious attention and furniture needs to be upgraded. Matresses old and no longer firm. Couches torn and stained. Toilets bady stained, spiderwebs in every nook and cranny and bathrooms could do with a very serious scrub down as the soap buildup on windows is just pathetic. Also my hubby had to ask for the extractor fan in the loft bathroom to be cleaned and for the fan to be dusted as the build-up gave him constant sinus headaches. The little "shop" also needs attention as there was no delivery of fresh bread for 2 days. All in all, not worth the money paid. I should have stayed home.

Room Tip: Do not stay at the lodges. Too cramped living area.

We stayed in a 6-people-appartment for two nights. The rooms were clean and not too small. The kitchen could have been a bit better equipped. The staff was nice and the breakfast tasty and fancy. We had a braai at the braai-area and got support from the staff: very helpful. Wifi is only avaidable at the central house. One evening, we saw a springbok in the middle of the hotel area.

This is still one of my favorite resorts for family entertainment. The accommodation is spacious and clean. Ths resort offers self catering facilities whilst still having a restaurant to cater for different needs. Facilites such as a gym, chapel and extensive play areas make this a family friendly resort. Things to look out for or take note of: 1. Make a reservation for the restaurant as it fills up quite quickly. 2. The hiking trails display a degree of difficulty, but its easy to lose the trail even on the simplist of hikes. Trails are not well marked. On the plus side, there's tarred roads all the way to the resort

This was a great break away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. On arrival we were greeted by security Praisegod who has the most bubbliest of personalities and assured us of a piece of heaven...................which definitely was! My family were treated to ice cold thirst quenchers by Richard who ensured that we were comfortable whilst front desk confirmed our check in. I really wanted a loft room chalet and Richard within a couple minutes checked by family into a comfortable loft room chalet that had the most breathtaking views. The friendly staff.........and that I mean all staff at Alpine Heath are to be commended for their attitudes and assistance towards their guests.Activities are superb! Victor had taken us on a guided tour to the Cascades and made sure that we swam with him in the natural pools.........this was so much of fun! Well my family and I will be back in future to enjoy the tranquility, beauty and splendor of the resort and also the pleasant staff that make the resort a piece of heaven.Well done and I wish you guys everything of the best in all your future endevours. Regards, the Kullens from La Mercy,KZN.
