We found Cinnamon House in January 2005 soon after it opened because we were dissatisfied with our previously booked accommodation and visited the tourism office to find something better. We couldn't believe our luck as we had a selection to choose from but certainly made the right choice back then. They had no restaurant at that time but provided excellent breakfasts and an evening meal if required. On returning to South Africa this October the fond memories of our luxurious stay at Wilderness persuaded us to return to Cinnamon House. Often a mistake to go back - never as good second time around. Not so. It was even better as they now have an excellent restaurant which achieves the high standards of the rest of the property. Congratulations to Desmond and Johan for maintaining these high standards of comfort, luxury and friendliness.

The location is an ideal base for visiting Oudtshoorn, George, Knysna, Plettenberg, etc..

Truly this Guest House is an oasis in Wilderness, when you enter this building you will be faced with a decor that has been chosen with a geat deal of care and taste, form the sumptous leather suites to the beautiful dining room, bar and pool areas. The bedrooms all have individual themes, all subtle blends of autuminal colours, with throws and every detail to match. the rooms are all of a very good size and the bathrooms well appointed. Beds are firm and huge. our room had two balconies one overlooking the gardens, which has an abundant bird life. The other above the small pool,

Desmond & Johan are attentive but unobtrusive, Breakfast was a delight. full English plus all the South African specials you can think of. So the accomodation is really first class, if you are travelling from the UK, I will assure you, stay here and you have made the right choice, even based on the excellent accomodation available throughout South Africa, this one is good,

When you stay here you must eat at the resturant. Barry is also thoughtful, attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is perfect for a charming and intimate dinner, cooked to perfection and served with a good choice of affordable wines. Compared with the UK, well actually there is no comparison its a steal.

When we stayed we had one night when it was just us and I can't believe that this Guest House is not full every night and theres not a queue down to the beach, get booking before everyone knows where the Cinnamon is.

Thanks for a great stay Boys.

Having travelled along theGarden Route staying at some lovely hotels we just didn't think we could get any better until we arrived at the Cinnamon Boutique hotel. Beautiful garden and delightfully eclectic public lounges. The rooms were just beautifully appointed and the bathrooms were just the best - well thought out, with excellent lighting for makeup! (Usually a failing with most hotels). Desmond and Johan couldn't have been friendlier with good advice on trips out from the hotel. Some stunning scenery just on the door step with a beautiful bay and beach just a short stroll away through the village of Wilderness.

Absolutely A1.
Desmond & Johan were extremely helpful and Barry was a great manager and barman, even put me onto Black Label, only beer with hops! The food and wine selection were extremely good as were all the staff. As for the breakfast was enough to keep us going though out the day. Our room was magnificent as were all the lounges and furniture within the guest house. The pool looked inviting but was wrong time of the year unless very brave!
Thanks again Guys.

We were travelling along the Garden Route and we had only booked two nights, and it wasn't long enough to work our way through the fantastic restaurant menu (which has an excellent wine list).!!! Hosts Desmond and Johan were so hospitable. They really couldn't do enough for us. Our bedroom had views over the pool deck. It was roomy, nicely appointed, tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Our bathroom was huge. The decor in the public areas is exquisite. It's a series of beautiful rooms worthy of an Ideal Homes magazine article. The pool area is very relaxing and has a gate that quickly takes you down to the lagoon, where you can stroll along the boardwalk. There is secure gated parking. If you are foolish enough to want to eat elsewhere, it is only a short stroll into Wilderness (about 50yds). We liked the honesty bar system that Desmond and Johan operate at the hotel. We can heartily recommend a stay here.
