“A Gem in (the) Wilderness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

Cinnamon Boutique Guest House is the ideal location to stay in Wilderness, and perfectly situated for touring throughout the Garden Route. Unlike many of the alternatives, it's a short walk from Cinnamon to the beach and all the restaurants and shops. We initially committed to stay for one night, but enjoyed our visit so much that we stayed an extra two nights. The proprietors Desmond and Johan are extremely welcoming and wonderful hosts. Guests are also greeted by the charming resident fox terriers Sebastien and Sasha.

Cinnamon is a luxurious guest house with sprawling public rooms on the ground floor and spacious, tastefully appointed guest rooms upstairs. Its placement amidst large trees gives the impression of being in a forest setting, yet Cinnamon is centrally located in Wilderness. Our large room had not one but two balconies, one overlooking the surrounding hills and the other above the swimming pool. Breakfasts are particularly special, with an abundance of fresh fruit and a full selection of breakfast options. Cinnamon also has a large, well stocked honesty bar where guests help themselves to libations from beer to cognac, making an entry in the bar ledger of their selections. This guest house is a real find, and represents astonishingly good value for luxury accomodation along the Garden Route.

A fantastic hotel, the room was immaculate and so beautifully furnished lovely fresh white bed linen huge bathroom with everything you would ever need and a very private balcony. The delightful owners were so friendly and helpful ,breakfast was served overlooking the pool lovely fresh fruit ,home made blueberry drop scones and delicious cooked breakfast, as much tea and coffee as you wanted.
In the evening our hosts recommended 'The Girls' Restaurant for dinner which was within walking distance ,super atmosphere and very good food.

We really didn't want to leave this lovely hotel .Please go and enjoy!

Room Tip: I think all rooms would be excellent but ours was at the back of the house which was very private an...

We stayed for 1 night in this excellent hotel. The room was huge and nicely furnished. The public areas were exceptionally well laid out, and the pool/deck area was very pleasant. In the trees behind the hotel we spotted several species of birds. The hotel owners were very friendly and helpful. While there's not a huge amount to do on the doorstep, it's only just off the N2.

The rooms are huge with spacious bathrooms designed by the owners. This is a very good base to explore the area. The owners are very helpful and the breakfast they provide will keep you going all day.whilst there is no dinner there are plenty of places to eat with the Girls only 400 yes away being very good.

A magnificent property which the most stunning decor. Lovely owners who take pride in their property. Rooms huge and beautiful. Just needed some stronger air conditioning or a ceiling fan over the bed as the room was boiling hot. Would have been nice if someone carried our bags up to our room instead of us lagging our own suitcases up the stairs (it is a 5 star property so it should be expected) - other than that it was an absolutely stunning place to stay. I would stay there again. Highly recommended!

This was a very cute little hotel that had all the amenities you might want. A small pool with plenty of deck chairs, top notch restaurant & personal service. The guys that run the b&b are very relaxed and the stay will be the same. The location is perfect for walking into town and down to the beach. So for all you basic fun, you can leave your car parked in their secure area.

With the exception of the enormous and difficult to get to beach, Wilderness did not seem to have a lot going for it, but we found them both - Cinnamon and The Girls (Restaurant next to the Caltex garage in middle of town, which was very good and busy) - and in fairness some stunning scenery all around the area. Stayed 2 nights (30th & 31st Oct), arriving from Plett, having driven round and through the Outeniqua Mtns (N9 and then through over the Herold Pass to George & then down N2 to Wilderness from the West - fabulous scenery and route, but steep, tight and narrow - mostly untarred, dirt roads. Tucked away is Cinnamon and a real surprise - larger than expected and than had seemed at first glance - very large rooms dominate and furnishings and decor is very European/Germanic in that there was a lot of material, ornaments, and china displayed on the walls, and their furniture was both large and heavy wood style. Bedrooms were large and again dominated by imposing heavy wooden items, and then in complete contrast - huge, white, ultra-modern bathrooms. Restarant was not Open on the Sunday evening (hence we went to The Girls), but we all ate in on the Monday evening - delightful, delicious and very good indeed. Ditto breakfast, though served in main lounge area, overlooking their deck and pool. Very friendly, helpful and efficient team. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. To be so close to the N2 and not be able to hear a single thing was also a major bonus - it made this location a good one to be based at and from which to tour or roam the area
