“A tranquil home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

This was our first time at Moontide, and we could not have asked for a better stay. The room was spacious and had everything we needed (including bath robes, which some HOTELS don't even offer these days!). I was so worried we would not have enough blankets, as I get cold quite easily, but to my surprise, there was an electric blanket on the HUGE bed (which I loved even more), and a heater to keep us warm. I felt comfortable and right at home from the moment I stepped inside.
I loved how peaceful and tranquil it was, and despite it being a guest house, no one is ever "in your face". The staff are so warm and friendly, and the manager, Tim, always available to answer any question you may have about the surrounds. He gave u so many suggestions and options of food places and things to do for the day, which was so helpful, as we were unfamiliar with the area.
The breakfasts are delish, and very well portioned, and apart from that, there is a cereal bar with fresh and stewed fruit and yoghurt.
We stayed for three nights, and by the time we had to leave, I wanted to chain myself to the bed so I could stay longer.
This is a beautiful place overlooking the lagoon and we would definitely return! TEN STAR in my books :-)

We got far more than we expected at Moontide Guest Lodge. The level of luxury and attention to detail was far beyond our expectation given the price we paid. The rooms are gorgeously decorated and spacious. We would definitely return and recommend this to others.

When arriving at Moontide we were greeted by the very friendly manager Tim, we filled out all the necessary documentation and off he went to show us our room. Our room was 'Moonshadow 2' and what a beautiful room it was. It had a lovely patio, inside we had a lounge area as well as a very comfortable bedroom area. The bed was very comfortable and had electric blankets on them to keep us warm during the cold nights. The bathroom was amazing, very spacious and had a 'open plan' type setting and not forgetting the very spacious walk in cupboard that could keep all my luggage as well as my husbands.

The setting for breakfast was also amazing. On the first morning we sat inside, very cozy atmosphere and on the second morning we sat outside on the patio overlooking the lake and was that an amazing sight. During breakfast on our first morning there, Maureen the owner, came over and gave us a very warm welcome which we really appreciated. For breakfast, your cereals, cheeses, yogurts, fruit etc are all 'help your self' style and then your hot meal you can choose from the set menu. The menu ranges from simple egg and bacon on toast to having the full house breakfast which included bacon, egg, boerewors etc.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Tim was especially helpful when we were looking for things to do in the area. He gave us lots of suggestions of places that we could go and see.

We look forward to returning next year for our first year wedding anniversary and we will definitely be staying for a longer period of time.

This was our return journey to Moontide. Loved it the first time. Loved it the second time. Stayed in our "old room" which was just as great as the first time around. The location on the river estuary is unbeatable. Peaceful and stunning and if you are into birding, it's pure heaven. The Moontide team were attentive as usual and made us feel like family returning home. We re- experienced the beautiful beach and sunset walks and some of the local fair on offer. All in all a great stay and extremely good value for money. We are already planning a return long weekend next year with a big group.

Room Tip: So many great choices its difficult to make a "bad one". The tree house is always booked u...

We only spent one night regrettably at Moontide. The accommodation was superb and the setting is absolutely wonderful. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lagoon was first class as was the service throughout. We would love to return and spend a little more time in this fabulous guesthouse.

We stayed at Moontide Guest House for 2 nights.
Upon our arrival (which was after reception hours), we received a hearty welcome.
We were shown our room - it was gorgeous and much more than we expected.

The breakfast we enjoyed was devine!
The staff was so friendly and more than willing to give us hints about what to do in the rainy weather.
My husband loved the friendly dogs, Saskia and Sam.

We are very excited to visit this place of friendliness and where we enjoyed a much welcomed rest!

Thank you very much for your GREAT service!!!
