Once again visited Pietermartizburg to work with Schools and my friend Anash had arranged my stay at the Ascot Inn. Been since 09 that last visited but same quality and hospitality awaited me there. Two young ladies at the front desk were delightful, and fully enjoyed our conversations and their helpfulness. Only had dinner one night, prime rib and roast chicken, but it was great. Accomodations, though not fancy, great value. Clean, and functional. Miss Moses the bartender from my many visits ( 5th time staying here) but highly recommend the Ascot Inn for any travelers coming thru. Remember to sign the wall, as I was still able to find couple of my previous posts from 2005 and 09. Look forward to my next visit.

Ascot Inn is the venue of one of the BNI meetings. Weekly they always prepare good quality breakfast for the 30 plus members. They host the Christmas party and the salads, dessert etc was outstanding. They are so accommodating when we arrange a conference/training or special function for BNI - that I can say they are amazing to work with, well organised and friendly service.
I like a huge bathroom and I get this at Ascot Inn. I will also recommend it to people visiting Pietermaritzburg for the Royal Show to stay over - the rooms remind of stable, which they are and beautifully restored. Keep up the good work all of you! BNI is proud to have meetings their weekly.

Our home away from home for more than ten years. Fantastic service, super staff, delightful rooms with fresh and clean linen, amazing bar, buffet breakfast and lovely dinners in the most beautiful garden setting. Sparkling pool area and even laundry! What more could we ask for?Thank you Ascot you outdo yourselves every time.

Room Tip: Ascot offers rooms even for the disabled. All rooms are good.

Couldn't believe the excellent customer service and great value for money. After 5 hours of driving with a 2 yr old, we were desperately calling inns and hotels trying to find a bed for the night and some food. Out of about 10, Ascot Inn was the only one to offer both a restaurant and two separate bedrooms. we called on the road, to book ourselves in and were put through to the chef who happily agreed to keep the kitchen open, past serving time and when we arrived our food was laid out in front of us all ready. The chef, despite having to stay behind was so friendly and lovely and the food was fabulous! The staff were exceptionally friendly and the room we were showed to was a pleasant surprise, two en-suite rooms with kitchen facilities all in a private guest house fo 450 rand!! Couldn't believe our luck!
The food was also well priced too.
We all slept very well, and were refreshed for our on-ward journey.
I have never written a review on tripadvisor, but having such a great stay, I felt I owed it to them to give a recommendation.

Thank you Ascot Inn!!

Stayed for 3 nights. Small rooms - know it was a stable but that novelty wears off when you have no space to put your suitcase. At almost R800 per night, I really expect good, fluffy and NEW linen. Little chocolate on bed at arrival & at least a small long-life milk sachet - no Cromora please!

Beautiful gardens and well kept. Think of your rooms though. Better linen, better coffee experience and all is good.

I stayed here for 2 nights while doing a conference at the conference center there. The rooms are very basic, but comfortable (and definitely bigger than my image of a horse stable ;) Basic en-suite bathroom with stall shower. The TV screen was quite small (smaller than my laptop screen!) but room was equipped with air conditioner which can act like a heater in the winter - much needed! The conference venue was nice, with many different sized rooms for groups of different sizes. Food at conf venue was excellent and staff was super friendly and helpful!

Room Tip: Choose a room closer to the reception, those on edge of premises are closer to the highway noises.

Delightful evening's entertainment with a veritable who's who of world travellers in the pub which closed only when we left. Large well kept spacious gardens. My umpteenth return trip - Always a pleasure.
