“Amazing venue - amazing staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

My husband and I had four wonderful days here for our wedding in November 2012. The property is absolutely stunning the pictures don't do it justice and the staff go above and beyond. My wedding was truely amazing, we were lucky enough to have giraffe and zebra wonder in on the action and stay for the ceremony and photographs! The little added extras and sentiments made all the difference too. My new husband, bridesmaid and photographers were taken on a special game drive specifically so we could have photos taken with the animals and because of the chance of rain the staff worked tirelessy setting up the lounge - removing sofas armchairs and pine tables and putting up fairy lights and more candles than you can imagine. It was beyond perfect. Also we saw more animals on the Falaza game drive than the Big 5. The spa is fabulous too. We took our 2 young children with us and the reception manager and Sam (restaurant) went out of the way to accomodate for them - colouring books, meals a travel cot for my baby daughter - early breakfasts and extra snacks on the morning of our game drives. The service is second to none! Nothing was too much hassle and Sam is a credit to the reserve. Really cannot recommend the Falaza Game Park and Spa enough. AMAZING!

Tent style rooms are very cool. However after 3 days no air con ur ready to go. Included breakfast which was good food, restaurant staff are sweet. There are extra add on tours to do. Cheeta rehab centre and the croc park was good value as the cheers are most rare to find in parks and we did a hippo and croc tour. Saw loads of hippos which are very cute but no crocs. Spa / massage not really easily made available. Advise to book in advance. St Lucia is a great we town about an hour before hluhluwe. Worth a visit and even a stay. Outside bath in our room was very nice.

I'm not one to enjoy camping, so when I was told we'd be staying in tents, I was wary. I shouldn't have been. My tent had a tea service, king-size bed and incredible shower with outside tub (although it was too cold to use). Our party included a 3-year old child, and when we ate, the chef was great to make sure he had what he would eat. The food was good - it was on the better end of average, but it wasn't something that made me say it was incredibly wonderful. We really enjoyed the staff with whom we interacted. The game drive was good. We were able to see the rhino and many other animals. As a visitor from the States, I really had little idea what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Easy access on an excellent road to this lodge, which is located in beautiful bushveld terrain. The public areas (mostly under thatch) are attractive. They include a spacious lounge, a bar, an inside/outside restaurant, a seminar room and a spa. The guest accommodation comprises 15 luxury tents, generally well appointed, but here and there in need of maintenance. There is good viewing of game (antelope, rhino, warthog etc) at close quarters from the lodge itself, although game trails are also catered for. The chief disappointment is a complete absence of visible management or supervision. Not surprisingly therefore, service is lackadaisical and the food is uninteresting and mediocre.

Room Tip: Insist on one of the half-dozen tented chalets on the front perimeter overlooking the savannah

Stayed at Falaza during an extended road trip of the national parks in South Africa... the tent was amazing, as were the friendly neighbors - the KUDU, the WILDEBEEST, the threesome of VERVET MONKIES, the occasional RHINO.... the location is fabulous, as is the setting of the entire Game park and Spa.... the winding trail walk upto one's tent... the dinner served around the fire pit... the relaxing lounge by the pool... ans yes the SPA... I had a wonderful stay, though the only little disappointment was the lack of imaginative recipies for a Vegetarian as myself.... I got a veg platter of boiled and seasoned veggies for dinner.... the staff is extremely pleasant and nice... the best bit is sittin outside your tent on the wooden deck @ 5 am... and just taking in the nature!!! also nearby is the False Bay Park... a short sweet drive for a look see at some Zebra's and wild hogs....also ideal for bird watching.... a real good place... would love to return!!!

Room Tip: if you fancy request for a tent with outdoor shower and batch tub!!!

We had a wonderful 4-day stay at Falaza over New Year’s Eve 2011, but I do have few complaints;
1) The food was very basic and not what one expects from a lodge of Falaza’s standard. I also feel that the ala carte meals are a bit over priced for what one get.
2) When I made the bookings, I’ve been told that a party in the bush will be arranged for New Year ’s Eve, but it ended up with very boring snacks in the bar. I must admit that most of the other residents at the lodge most likely would not have attended a bush party.

On the positive side;
1) Service was excellent and one of the staff members (Sam) even got up early one morning to prepare snack packs and open the gate for us.
2) The tents are great and especially the 2 we had (no’s 8 and 10), that is right next to the fence of the game park.

Apart from the food, I can recommend Falaza, but think that with a little bit of effort they can improve their menu and quality of the food.

Room Tip: Number 8 and 10 is right next to the fence of the game park. One can view game from the veranda.

Stayed 2 nights in a tent, although you would never have known as it had tiled floor and all mod cons including an outside bath and indoor and oudoor showers. The food was very good with an excellent choice. The accommodation is set right on the edge of the game park and the deer and resident white rhino come right up to the fence. We wnt on a river cruise at St Lucia where we saw hippo, crocodile and lots of bird life, we also went to Hluhluwe Imfoluzi game park where we were lucky enough to encounter a herd of at least 100 elephants including week old babies at one point we were surrounded which was an experience we will never forget.
