I visited with my family on 3 Jan '14. I must say that when one arrives, the exterior facade one is greeted with--typical farm-- almost appears questionable as to quality and standard. There was a definite farmyard smell prevailing as well. This smell is more prevalent when the wind is blowing from the NE, which it was that day.
We nevertheless proceeded to the bar/pub area. We initially elected to sit outside but the wind was a bit troublesome even though there was some form of netting to shield one---not very effective, though, with the prevailing NE wind.
We then moved inside the bar area and were ably assisted by the waitron and what appeared to be a manager. From then on the experience was very enjoyable even though my wife was a bit uncomfortable with the farmyard smell that permeated through from time to time. The service was excellent and even though we intended having only a light lunch the meals that we chose were very substantial and exceptionally tasty, particulalrly the curry! The waitron was attentive and always on hand and helpful even though the restaurant was fairly busy. The food and liquid refreshments were also very reasonably priced.
All in all, an enjoyable- and cost effective experience but I would recommend that, if one is sensitive to farmyard smells, you don't visit when the wind is from the NE. The outside seating could also be somewhat unpleasant due to the NE wind and insufficient shelter therefrom.
Table seating inside is limited so I would recommend booking. John S.
