This is one of the largest Aquariums in the Southern hemisphere. An American designer has created a "shipwreck" through which visitors wander, looking at HUGE sharks and rays, jellies, and an enormous variety of Indian Ocean flora and fauna. One of the largest rooms has everything upside down, with a helm and wheel on the ceiling.
The facility opened in 2004, and has frequent feedings throughout the day. The tide pools and viewing pools include penguins, dolphins, and more. Once admitted (easiest from the beach side), you may visit a special shopping and food area, elaborately decorated with ocean mosaics. Children's parties are offered, and there's plenty of shade and all kinds of restaurants. We saw most of the exhibits in 2 hours, but you could stay all day.
