“Fantastic hotel”

Stayed here for the Comrades Marathon and as the hotel was situated adjacent to the finish it was absolutely full but still catered superbly for all the runners
The rooms were spacious and has good facilities with a well stocked mini bar which had adequate space for personal drinks
There has just been extensive refitting which was very nice and rooms were very clean and has good fittings
There was also a number of extra special touches like the muffins on the first night delivered to the room and the present of energy drink and power bar before the race for the runners and ice post race plus adapting the catering for the runners with breakfast at 1:30am
Would definitely stay again even if not for the race as it is such a friendly hotel well situated for getting around

Checked in for Comrades, not what I would expect from a five star property, some things in a hotel of this quality I'd consider as a given.

no turndown service, only on request.
no valet parking
no bathrobes, needed one because we had no towels.

We had to ask for towels every day, last night when we came back at 10pm we had one hand towel, nothing else replaced, no face cloths. On arrival there were again no towels and on the second day a knock on the door from housekeeping asking if they could take away the towels we had used, clearly there is an issue with the par stock.

Second day had no pillowcases.

Had an extra bed for our son, had to ask 3 times for it to be made up after it had been put in the room. Seems to me outsourcing of housekeeping isn't working.

Carpets are filthy, generally room isn't clean.

Doesn't stack up to the other Hiltons that I stay in around the world.

I was staying at the hotel for a week in conjunction with INDABA. Th hotel is the next nearest location u can get for the Show. Despite the day of arrival was a little rough as the check in process was slow due to the system failure. Their service line and staff's are so pleasant that even your anger will melt away. The rooms are pretty old, and we requested for a change of room when the heater shower head fell on my head while showering. The air condition and electrical supply for the building has got a major defect. They are in the midst of refurbishing the equipment but seriously thy have to expedite it. The SPA is a small one but good massage. I would recommend it. The Breakfast has a superb variety on a daily basis.

Room Tip: Try to go for the Club Rooms its a add on of only 240Ran. Make sure the AC is good.

2nd time ave been year after a span of 5 years, big new lobby , all polished and decked up, got to the hotel by 12 in the afternoon and there was only a single receptionist in such a brand new shiny lobby... Whatta a waste of space.. The excuse was since it was only 12 in the afternoon the others went on a quick lunch...anyways got checked in since we were an entourage of 3 it took 30 mins .. Rooms are still the same, carpets still smelly , old furniture, since it was only a night it passed quickly, breakfast is also not up2 the mark... Don't think am coming back here..

I feared this hotel would be a bit 'removed', but in the end it turned out to be an oasis. The location is actually very convenient to the beachfront and promenade, which are in easy walking distance. I visited the Florida Road area, where other hotels are located, and was happy that I chose the Hilton. The newly-renovated lobby looks great. I understand that room renovations are underway, which will make it that much better. The restaurant is very well run, with a varied food selection and good service. The only negative, and I know that management is aware of this, is the 'spottiness' of the in-room wifi, for which the fees are high. I found myself doing much of my online work in the lobby.

Very good service. Good food, nice and quiet rooms. Very nice view from the business lounge over the Ocean. Safe and comfort feeling. Very professional crew that takes care of you. Safe underground parking place. For local traveling they take care of a safe and reliable taxi.

All that is expected from a 5-star hotel! Overall a pleasant experience. An added advantage is the extra care taken with security measures within the hotel as all world tourist destination cities are affected by this tendency. If looking for a business hotel in Durban, this is your answer!

The beach, promenade and entertainment area is in close proximity.

The ICC (International Convention Centre) is situated right next to the hotel which is also very convenient for national or international conferences.
