“Great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Booking was a pleasure after a bad experience with another guesthouse in Durban. We got to the guesthouse easily, it is very centrally located, great rooms with balcony and everything we needed.

Breakfast in the morning was more than adequate, and no charge for the extra coffee!

We stayed here in January for 4 nights and although it's not so close to the beach it's a lovely hotel with a very nice selection of breakfast and the food at the restaurant was very nice! Would defiantly recommend this hotel for people looking for some peace and quiet and nice rooms... Good value for money!

Very reasonable price for its excellent location, with simple yet elegant design. The staff are very friendly, but it seems management needs a bit of oversight since the rooms were not very clean (used glasses, dirty carpet in bathroom, had to ask for staff to clean a table for breakfast and for new towels in the room..). Its a great concept- just needs attention. Breakfast is good; careful of the way overpriced bar, even for sparkling water!

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter, towards the back.

Ive stayed at this hotel numerous ones before, but have to say it is disappointing to see a clear lack of any form on interest from staff, or management.

You know something is up when not a single TV channel in the room works, all 10 programmed ones display error messages claiming the payTV subscription has not been paid!

Combine that with an aircon in the room (11) that unceremoniously dumps water from its overflow directly onto your sleeping head from 3am onwards an you begin to get the picture.

During brekfast service we gave up waiting for our waitress and walked to the kitchen to collect our own food, visibly sitting on the counter with no staff interested in bringing it to the table.

Avoid at all costs, at least until management and maintainence find a common ground to sort out the basics of a decent accommodation environment!

A place with a real soul, just a short walk from famous Florida Road! The rooms are beautifully designed (if you're a design lover), modern with a retro touch, in a positive way austere, yet without being cool. The entire place has a wonderful ambience to it, a real pleasure to stay. The staff is the most charming in many years! Very inexpensive on top (if you look for deals on the internet). Worth every single rand!

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building do have wifi (rooms in the annex do not have, so you need to go to the ma...

We'd booked two rooms for two nights at 64 Gordan, a nice change from the larger and more expensive boutique hotels. Its new and well kept. Clean, with an interesting decor. The rooms are average sized, but they have large bathrooms - almost the size of the room! The breakfast was great as expected, freshly baked scones and croissants. They dont have dinner and lunch service on sundays. Its very close to florida road in case you want to dine out, just a short walk and its very safe. The beach and Ushaka Marine are around 10 minutes drive from 64 Gordan. Would stay here again if needed, the service was good, the rooms and amenities (free wifi) were what you would expect from a very nice B&B.

Located in a quiet area, radio taxi available, 20 minutes walk to the restaurants, in house restaurant is also good with half price on Mondays during my stay in May 2011, good presentation of food, wooden stairs and floors tends to be noisy, especially caused by people returning late night, staff were good
