“Time your visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Do not go on Christmas Day or New Year's Day, but otherwise a great place to rollerskate, skateboard, ride your bicycle (you an hire one there as well), or look up the Moses mabid STADIUM TO SEE ll the exciting events they have!

“So Beatiful, but so Windy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

A wonderful place for walking, but not so wonderful for swimming if you do not like waves. Nice and good restaurants, nice and secure atmosphere for "flanning around"

“That Golden Sand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

The warmest water i have ever encountered, having never before dabbled my feet in the Indian Ocean. The beach was pleasantly clean but we see people are up early in the morning picking up the rubbish and keeping it spotless.Their are ample restaurants to give you all the variety you want.Regretfully our visit was out of season and uShaka Marine was closed on the two days of our visit.

“Great walk/bike ride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

The "golden mile" has been somewhat updated from its 70's kitsch. It is now a great place for tourists and locals. It actually stretches for well over a mile and is a nice walk/workout. At the moment you can walk from uShaka Marine World right down to the Moses Mabhida stadium. Soon you will be able to walk all the way to the mouth of the Umgeni River!

Highly recommended for tourists wanting to buy some craftwork, and locals wanting a little exercise or a good family outing.

“Great beach vibe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

The promenade is a buzz with everyone doing their own thing in the open air. A number of piers also jut out into the Indian Ocean and are ideal for looking at the surfers catching their waves. The restaurants are of the fast food variety, but are more than adequate for a day at the beach

A pleasant run can be had from Ushaka towards Blue Lagoon of +- 5 km one way. The last kilometer is closed for reconstruction at this time. The route passes endless beaches and is well lit for an evening run; a detour can be made to the stadium that hosted the Soccer World Cup in 2010.

The beaches have demarcated swimming areas with life guards in attendance. The beaches become less crowded as you move north from South Beach and the paddling pools.
