“could do with lots of maintenance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

what was once a really great setting has become neglected and has this is evident the moment you enter the gardens
if only the municipality would invest more time and energy in the upkeep it will regain its glory of the days gone by

“Enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Great place to get toghether, have a barbecue, or just relax, similiar to botanical gardens but much smaller, weekends have a great family atmosphere to them, has a small park for the kids to play, not far of from kensington square , a local mall which has great places to eat, a cellphone outlet where south african simcards and phones are available or a computer store next to that for fun and great accessories to take back home or that laptop charger that u left behind, japanese gardens is situated in durban north, so its very safe and peaceful, also not far of from the beach.

“Nice - dont go alone”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

This lovely place as fallen over the years, a wonderful spot previously for picnics and kids to play its not quite as safe as it once was and the odd homeless man has apparently be seen to live there. the kids play area at the top of the gardens however is still nice though.
PErsonally I'd rather take the kids to the beach

“Safe environment for kids to run around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2012

The upkeep of the garden seems to be neglected a bit. However the place is still lovely for a relaxing outing for picnics and the kids to run around.

“japanese gardens?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

Only resemblance to japanese is a few plants and statues. Dusty, ponds are a disgrace. the new shop that opened is an added bonus. Nothing looked after, everything left to mother nature.
