“Great hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

Excellent all around from the location of the hotel to restaurants and the beach. Friendly staff with complimentary breakfast and cocktails in the evening. I was there for work and will stay there again when I return to Durban.

Conveniently located in a busy but safe part of town. The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate my partner and I during our recent stay.

The room was quite acceptable, although there was possibly more noise from the street than we would have wished.

Breakfast was certainly above average.

A very nice boutique hotel in Morningside area of Durban, an oasis of security and comfort in a city that can feel chaotic and challenging at times. Excellent breakfast, great service, only criticism is the noise of nightlife on Florida (not too bad with windows closed and AC on).

Our room was small and rather dark, the furniture looked old. I had higher expectations considering the price we paid and the reviews in trip advisor. Breakfast was nice, with delicious omelets, which compensated a bit. Location is good, with many bars and restaurants around the street - which also made it very loud at saturday evening.

We are six of us from India and travelling to Durban on a holiday. We stayed at The Benjamin and it was a wonderful experience . From the moment you enter the premises , it's all smiles . It was clean, rooms were large with all amenities one can hope for . Its a small hotel (43 rooms) but the people there are awesome and helpful. The breakfast is wonderful.

I wanted a twin bedded room but what they gave me was a room for Four people . I would recommend this place to all travelers. They do not have a restaurant but there is a Cuban restaurant just opposite the hotel and a couple more. The ATM is also located nearby. Free WIFI os available for all hotel guests.

We booked a last-minute stay at The Benjamin based on Tripadvisor ranking, this is an outstanding hotel! We were immediately welcomed by friendly staff, who even allowed us to check in very early, and have a breakfast! (As we were going on an early morning safari the next day and would miss it!)

The room is homely, clean, with a lovely feel about it. The facilities are excellent. Breakfast was delicious - well cooked and a good variety of choices.

Location is superb, on a safe street within walking distance to all the main attractions and some great restaurants. We did hear a bit of street noise at night (but we stayed on a long weekend Sat night!) - the second night here I wore earplugs and had a great sleep. The bed is comfortable.

It is the incredible service and the homely feel of this hotel which makes it so appealing. We would have loved to stay longer and cannot wait to go back there. I have stayed in so many hotels that most aren't particularly memorable but this one is an absolute standout. THIS is how you do customer service!

Nice exclusive B&B. Close to Durban ICC. There are a number restaurants in Florida road, so you don't to go far to find a good restaurant. I stayed in a Single room, ample space, clean and quiet. Laundry was carried out on the same day. Breakfast was excellent and made to order. Staff very friendly and efficient. Remember to drive up the back alley behind the building for access to secure parking.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.
