The staff were very friendly, they could help with transport & any tour that you would like to do. They also made suggestions of things to do which was very helpful. The room was beautiful, but with a reasonable firm bed. The food in both the bar and the restaurant was excellent as was the drink menu. The area the hotel is situated in is very safe.

The hotel itself is great, its modern and beautifully decorated. The shuttle service is not very consistent we sometimes had to wait between 40 minutes to an hour for the shuttle to arrive. When we checked-in we were told our booking was cancelled, having booked with a reputable online website, having paid the full amount for our stay a month before arriving and after a 10 hour flight this really wasn't the service you'd like or expect to receive at any hotel. We were told to sort the situation out ourselves and they offered us the use of their phone. We asked to speak to the manager who had the same attitude and said we must pay for the nights accommodation until she can find out about our booking (we never heard anything back from her and we had to sort the situation out ourselves!). We phoned our bank and the online booking company we used and they both ensured everything was fine with the payment and booking on their side. It was a hassle staying there, we never got any apology for the inconvenience and terrible service we received. It was definitely our one and only stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't stay in a room facing the road, ask for a room with a bath because they also have a shower

They should allow guests to watch sport on Weekends, in fact anytime really, they should make sure products on Menus like drinks are available and definitely popular ones like Castle Light on a Saturday Night also look at service in Restaurant on weekends, it was embarrassingly slow with many mistakes in orders and perhaps they should allow the Main Bar to trade till their closing time of your liquor licence 02:00 on weekends, it is a bit weird coming to a party at the Hotel and staying at the hotel on a weekend and having to consider going to bed at midnight.

We spent 7 days in this hotel recently. A number of plus factors: the receptionist staff were relatively helpful when we arrived - accommodating our request to review different rooms given the length of our stay. The restaurant is a pretty good experience for dinner, too. Reasonable prices. Transport options are really convenient - their shuttle buses to nearby Sandton City are particularly usefulif you are looking for shopping or non-hotel restaurants. A great shower in the room, too.

Sadly, there were several experiences that really detracted from what could have been a great stay.

The on-site spa is not good. They claim to be award-winning, but my wife stopped her massage halfway through due to the inexperience of the therapist. Despite promises to offer an alternative treatment during the week, we heard nothing.

We also made the stupid mistake of getting laundry done. When our clothes were returned, they had been completely ruined. The hotel took about a week to "investigate" the complaint, and then offered me 50% of the value of the clothing, on the condition they kept the clothing.

Another (unique) irritation was the plague of ants in our room - every morning.

The last irritation example was at breakfast. The salt cellars were empty every morning - at our table and up to 4 tables radius from us too. Asking for salt resulted in a wait of approx 20 minutes. Also, each morning, they placed three little jars on the table, of what should have been marmalade, honey and jam. Without fail, the same condiment was placed three times on our table. Asking for a change resulted in a 20 minute wait.

This hotel has also been recently renovated, but you can still see the age beneath a rather shiny veneer. They've tried to catchup with the service, but haven't gotten it right yet.

If I were to return to the region, I may well investigate staying at a nearby alternative, but I also would not feel too unhappy were I to stay there again.

Room Tip: higher up means less road noise, which can be bad given the location.

albeit a business trip this hotel ticks all the right boxes. Stand out for me is the staff, the first class service, the smiles and the overwhelming desire to be of assistance. Africology is a 5 star spa experience for sure and the products sensational, I just wish they could launch in the UK! Free wi-fi is unbelievable, in every hotel I have stayed in the past 6 months from the US to Europe has charged me and yet The Maslow even gets it to you outside the property in the sunshine by the pool! Chef Shaun Ackerman should be proud - his team and his cuisine is worthy of many a great restaurant in any city in the world.

Room Tip: They are all good

Why a great stay. Lovely food, great Staff (they even found my scarf which I had lost)...just a Pity the restaurant and rooms were so cold. Most guests were sitting in their coats for dinner and breakfast, and the airco/heating had no positive effect on bedroom temperature. Some of the food (tiramisu for example) had been a bit to adventurously experimented with but hey, 'A' for effort.
