This hotel is world class, in the Sandton area (ie not central Joburg). The rooms are lovely, comfortable, quiet. The staff are the best trained I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. The only downside to this hotel is the pool is indoor and the sunbed area is tiny, with 3 sunloungers for everyone in the hotel.
Other than that you cannot fault this hotel and I would recommend it if you do not want to sunbathe.

Room Tip: Try asking for one overlooking Mandela Square

Stayed two nights at this beautiful hotel that is part of a mall complex. The staff couldn't be nice enough and the concierge was great when our airport transfer never showed up. The deluxe room had a large sitting area and the breakfasts are sumptuous.

Most reception staff now a days do not give you all the details on check in, unless you ask, that is what I had to do.

Thanks to housekeeping for the terrific turn down, Mr T Reception supervisor for the amenities (next time remove the previous couples letter).

Mini bar was empty and no secured so if you tried opening it, you basically pulled it out. Old coasters were left behind and wood could use some treatment

Bheki and Patience from the restaurant EXCELLENT Service!

Even though you spend a lot for that one night... remember to pay for parking.

Liz? sounded grumpy and unhappy working on the public holiday

The reservation was handled with much professionalism. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was comfortable and had a lovely view of Mandela Square. The turn down was very romantic. Loved every minute.

Room Tip: A room facing the square. The pool has no view as it's covered and the larger rooms are street f...

My friend and had booked at the Maslow's for high tea this last weekend and we were quite dissapointed at their lack of hospitality we sat don our waitress dissapeard no one checked on us didnt offer us drinks so we decided to leave, we went to the Michaelangelo without a reservation they accommodated us, they were extremely friendly and very hospitable we thoroughly enjoyed the high tea! when we went to pay they even addressed us by our surnames when they saw it on our cards, a small but very nice touch! we will definately be visiting there more very very impressed!!!

I loved the Michelangelo! From the moment you enter, until you leave you are treated royally! The staff is efficient and friendly and the hotel is beautiful! Rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast is one of the best I've ever seen. You can partake from the buffet or order off the menu, the choice is yours. The hotel is right on Mandela Square and a huge mall that has quite a choice of restaurant options as well as shopping. Sandton is a very safe area of JoBurg. The spa at the hotel is exceptional. I had a facial, a hot stone massage and an exfoliation for around $150 US dollars.
