“Pleasant informal dinning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Having been to Sandton on several occasion we had always seen this place was very busy and had heard great things about it. The menu offered a range of Asian specials but we were here for the Sushi, I had not tried much sushi before this visit to South Africa so by the end of this meal I was almost sushi’d out. We attended on a business dinner with a client and decided on a sharing platter for which you can decide on you varieties and portion sizes. Luckily my colleagues were somewhat sushi experts and made the selection. Which was great as we had a varied platter of; Nigiri, California Rolls, Fashion Sandwiches, Koi Roses & Sashimi. It was a great introduction to Sushi and some of these have become my favourite little bites for corporate lunches.

Word of warning if you are like I was, and have not tried much sushi in the past, be careful your eyes are not bigger than your stomach. The little portions are surprisingly filling.

I would class Koi as more of an informal dining experience (which is not a bad thing at all) with the servicers not being as attentive as most of my experiences in Joburg. But albeit I had no complaints about the service overall. It’s a great place for a light corporate lunch or to get together with friends on an evening to have a meal and few drinks.

“Yummy dum sum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

The food quality and preparation are superb, the dim sum to die for. this was a repeat visit and the standard of both food and service lived up to our high expectations. A little on the pricey side, but this kind of quality does not come cheap. i will return!

“Koi Dinning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

Koi was recommend to me on several occasions from various people so I was looking forward to experiencing it myself. The Dim Sum was very good, but perhaps needed a bit more flavour. The Sushi was mediocre unfortunately, but it was not bad. Koi seems to be the trending restaurant at the moment so be sure to book!! I do look forward to returning to taste the rest of the menu as the Peking Duck and other dishes sounded devine! Be sure to try the chocolate mousse for dessert as that was beautifully presented and delicious to taste. Koi would be the ideal venue in summer with its large windows and outdoor seating. Although the heaters were blazing on the enclosed patio, last night was bitterly cold and still chilly indoors.

“must be great i guess”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

read the reviews and since I'm sea food crazy, i was only too happy to look for it. I have to be honest, this restaurant fills up so quickly you wouldn't believe it. Must be an indication that its either its the hip place to eat or the food must really be that great. I had the dim sums and must agree that i found it spectacular. The seared tuna isn't something i would order again but the bok choi was nicely spiced and the wasabi mash …. good.
I wouldn't return in a hurry i guess but it did do more than okay for me.

“Great sushi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

I have been to Koi twice now, and am happy to report that on both occasions the sushi was superb. And the dim sum deserves a mention too. The service was slick, and the atmosphere young and vibey.
