Having been to Sandton on several occasion we had always seen this place was very busy and had heard great things about it. The menu offered a range of Asian specials but we were here for the Sushi, I had not tried much sushi before this visit to South Africa so by the end of this meal I was almost sushi’d out. We attended on a business dinner with a client and decided on a sharing platter for which you can decide on you varieties and portion sizes. Luckily my colleagues were somewhat sushi experts and made the selection. Which was great as we had a varied platter of; Nigiri, California Rolls, Fashion Sandwiches, Koi Roses & Sashimi. It was a great introduction to Sushi and some of these have become my favourite little bites for corporate lunches.
Word of warning if you are like I was, and have not tried much sushi in the past, be careful your eyes are not bigger than your stomach. The little portions are surprisingly filling.
I would class Koi as more of an informal dining experience (which is not a bad thing at all) with the servicers not being as attentive as most of my experiences in Joburg. But albeit I had no complaints about the service overall. It’s a great place for a light corporate lunch or to get together with friends on an evening to have a meal and few drinks.
