We were transiting through Joberg on our travels and only had one night. We decided to stay in the Sandton area because it was on the Gautrain and it seemed like a good base for the day. Despite our grand plans to just check in and then take some kind of tour or make our way to the apartheid museum, we were exhausted from our international flight from the U.S.
We made it to Nelson Mandela sq. looking for lunch. Quite a few restaurants surround the square. The mall is also gigantic with lots of luxury shops if you're looking to spend. We ate a quiet lunch and viewed the statue before heading back to our hotel to rest before dinner. The square is just ordinary, nothing to write home about.
