“A fantastic experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

We were very exited to visit, since we heard great things of the work they do. When we got there however, we were really upset to find that they overbooked, there were no chairs for us to sit on, and they seemed generally very unorganised. There were 2 guides, one quiet unfriendly one, and another very friendly one. We had to split in 2 groups, and needless to say everybody wanted the friendly guide, so we were very crammed on the game drive. I hate it when places are this disorganised, but despite the bad start, as soon as we started the tour I was won over. The guide was very knowledgeable, the tour interesting and the enclosures where we saw the wild dogs and cheetas, spectacular! We saw animals in abundance and are so grateful for rehabilitation centres like these, who can take care of theses magnificent animals. We had an amazingly great time, and interacted with a cheetah in an enclosure. I will go again and recommend it to friends.

“Good as Educational Experience for Schools”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We had spent the weekend at Game Lodges on Game Drives etc... saw loads of animals in large open areas and had a great time. The Cheetah centre was a big dissappointment to us - The afternoon tour group had 26 people on it, including a children birthday party of 10 or so! Not good when you are part of a couple wanting to enjy, peace, quiet and the great outdoors.

Anyway, the tour started with a video in a conference area which ttold you basic info about Cheetah and the Park. Then you could pay R180 for a Cheetah interaction which we did and wished we hadnt bothered. They led a very tame Cheetah into the room and it jumped up onto a table and laid down to be stroked for 5mins. Very expensive considering we did a Cheetah experience the day before at the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve 30mins drive away and it cost R30 per person and we got to go into its grassy enclosure to stroke it and have photos taken in the sun with it purring away. Great for schoolkids maybe but not adults unless you havent done anything better before.

Then was the 2hr driven game drive. It was very slow and the guide got out at each cage and spoke in a monotone voice about the animals. Again, great for a bunch of schoolkids but otherwise it was not upto what we expected. Couldnt see the animals often, they were always in caged enclosures that werent very big and the tour was so slow, that 15mins in I was already regretting visiting this place.

I am sure it does great work for the conservation of Cheetah and as an educational / breeding centre I am sure it does great work. But from a tourist perspective, don't bother, go to the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve instead and do the Cheetah interaction there and see more Cheetah in a large open enclosure.

“Great!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I don't like cats, can't stand them, but cheetahs are different, if Lion is the King of the jungle, Cheetah is the queen, such a beautiful animal!
One of the places where you must go if you are in Pretoria area

“Cheetah Fan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

I've always been a fan of the cheetah, then I saw one run in real life, heard it purr as I was able to pat it and just enjoyed observing it. The cheetah centre had these opportunities as well as a bus tour which brought you to a variety of enclosures. These guides are passionate about the animals and, while a couple of stories sounded a little rehearsed, it was still a very interesting time. For tourists who have never seen the African wild, you will certainly learn much, see some more elusive creatures as well as more common buck such as impala and will come away loving the centre's namesake!!

“Don't miss it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

We decided we need to do something on the 26th December, while staying in Pretoria - it was 45min away and well worth it.
Although it seemed that the tour guides decided to combine the family with the adult tours (felt like I was in a primary school classroom at times), they can be forgiven - the information was interesting and if it were your first time, the experience was probably perfect.
The cheetah, wild dog and hyena were really close up and it was wonderful to see and hear them so close.
The guides are young women, and to see one of them walk into to the enclosures with animal feed in hand was a little unnerving - did not look terribly safe - but she seemed confident and not at all concerned.
I loved the unusual stock in the curio's shop, a little different to other tourist spots around ZA.
