For a general outing in Pretoria (walking distance from the Gautrain station), Melrose House is a wonderful example of a well maintained original Victorian Home with South African historic relevance.
I actually attended the Antiques and Collectable fair which is held once a year with over 100 stalls of quality dealers through to second-hand collectables. Always an end of year treat
Small entry fee which goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of this public site is well worth it if you wish to see an original home of historic value in Pretoria. I cannot rate 4 stars as the site does not provide comprehensive amenities so its of interest value only
On the day, the venue parking was blocked off because of the fair. Alternative parking if required is in the street and surrounds, and ironically safety is assured by the rather rowdy unemployed car guards - a small tip on return seems be sufficient to ensure no issues with street parking
