not cheap but solid airport hotel. helpful staff, good internet, business center and decent meals. attached to the airport. if not on a budget, it's probably the easiest option for a layover.

We stayed at this hotel on our first night in South Africa before departing for our safari the following day to Port Elizabeth. As our inbound flight from Europe had been cancelled for technical reasons and rescheduled 12 hours later, we arrived in JNB at 10pm at night instead of 10am the same day ! The fact that the hotel is located within a minute walking distance from the International Arrivals terminal was much appreciated due to the lateness of our arrival. Check-in was efficient and as we had rather a lot of luggage with us, a very efficient bellboy immediatly offered us assistance. We were informed that the hotel had a nice room available for our stay and were escorted to our accommodation by a duty manager. My surprise was great when I discovered that we actually had been upgraded to the Hotel's Presidential Suite ! The accommodation was lavish with an entrance lobby, an office, a dining room with bar opening onto a tastefully decorated lounge itself opening onto a large double bedroom leading into a massive fully equipped bathrooms. This was more a designer decorated, luxury penthouse flat then a hotel room. A nice bottle of French champagne was waiting for us and there was a full open bar at our disposal (had we wanted to use it but due to the late hour, we just stick to the champagne). The bed was extremly comfortable and the bedlinen of a very good quality. We had a good night sleep only disturb on occasion by the sound of the lifts located not too far away from the suite. This would be the only real complaint I would have about our stay. We took advantage of having our own dining room and order breakfast through room service. It arrived promptly, was beautifully laid out and the quality of the food was excellent. Check out was rapid and accurate and in no time we were in the domestic departure terminal escorted to the check-in counter by one of the hotel bellboys. A truly excellent experience which gave us a good start to our 10 days honeymoon in South Africa

we stayed here, or ate here, or hung out in the lobby, three times on our recent trip to southern Africa. It's a one-minute walk from the airport. The rooms are quiet, a great place to overcome jet lag. The restaurant has good food. Decent fitness center. Very convenient. Staff is very welcoming.

Despite a mix up in our room bookings by our travel agent, the hotel staff managed to sort out two adjoining rooms for us so that we could be next to the children. The rooms and bathrooms were large and clean. The food was OK but not excellent. The small swimming pool was really nice and the staff here friendly and very tolerant of the children! The free internet access was alos a bonus. Position-wise this hotel could not be better situated for the airpoprt and car hire. Overall a pleasant and useful place for a one night stay after a long flight.

This hotel is convenient for overnight stays at the airport as it is within walking distance of the terminal, but it is not worth the price. Staff was rude and unhelpful. I would not recommend this hotel.

The InterContinental was a very convenient, yet relatively expensive, option for an overnight at O.R. Tambo Airport. It is about a 3 minute walk from the main international arrivals area.

The bed was comfortable, the shower had good pressure, the HVAC system was effective and quiet, and there’s even a good digital scale in the bathroom. The clock radio was exceptionally complicated so, to make sure you get up on time, either set your own alarm or request a wake up call. Room service operates 24 hours.

For an InterContinental property I was surprised you had to make a phone call to proactively request turndown service. Also, the TV channel selection was limited and there was no dimmer on the lights at bedside.

I would stay here again when making connections at JNB.

I stayed here between Cape Town and flying out to a private game reserve in the Sabi Sands Reserve the next day.

The location is outstanding, just an easy walk outside the baggage claim—closer than most airport parking garages. I did find that the signage from inside the airport was lame, however, and had to ask twice for help on where exactly to go.

The staff was excellent. I found the rooms a little small for such a luxury class hotel, and I was upgraded as I am an ICH Ambassador. The soundproofing was excellent. I didn't hear a sound from outside my room.

Breakfast was decent. It wasn't spectacular but it was decent. I would have expected at least an omelette station at a hotel of this caliber and for such a price.

I do feel they're taking the Intercontinental name a bit far as far as room prices, especially for an airport hotel. Anything out of the $200's is high, but almost $400 is just extreme. Especially when it's not a luxury resort with beaches and such right outside.

I will stay here again, however, as the convenience is worth a heck of a lot to me.
