The Raphael Penthouse Suites may be a bit difficult to locate (situated in the Nelson Mandela Plaza in Sandton (an upmarket suberb of J-Burg), but offer a lot of luxury, home comforts in a great location at a very reasonable price (if coming outside the country and pay ing with GBP or Euros, that is). The suites are highly decorated apartments. I stayed in a 1-bedroom which was extremely spacious with broadband access, HD wide screen TVs, fully kitted kitchen with washer/dryer and posh bathroom. Breakfast was included could either be delivered to your room from the hotel group (which is managed by the same company), or you could walk through the mall to the hotel. On my day of departure, which was too early for breakfast, the front desk staff presented me with a boxed-breakfast filled with fruit, museli, yogurt, and breakfast. A nice touch. The rooms are fully secure as is the entire complex, and felt quite safe. The Plaza and mall are full of shops and a dizzying array of resturants and bars. Highly recommended overall.
