“over-rated hotel”

Nairobi, Kenya

The Michelangelo is, to say the least, over-rated and over-hyped. The rooms are basic, the service below par for the class and definitely does not represent value for money.

One day the hot water ran out in many rooms (I was staying there with my colleagues and we all had a nasty experience taking cold showers during the winter)

There is also non-uniform enforcement of dining attire in the formal dining restaurant. We raised this issue with the management and they seemed incapable of resolving it.

The package we booked contained free 1hr internet per day but the receptionists were cheeky and did not alert us of this - we ended up finding out by coincidence, after having paid for the connection.

However, on the brighter side, the minibar is well stocked :-)

“World Class!!”

Michelangelo Towers

Jul 19, 2008

I had to go to Sandton, Johannesburg, for a 2 week business trip - my worst! I have always hated Hotels, until I stayed at the Michelangelo Towers WOW! The building is truly spectacular, fitted with quality finishes, plenty of facilities and the most beautiful views over Johannesburg. The staff was friendly, exceptionally well trained, helpful and efficient with everything I asked. I used the spa facilities, the sauna and indoor pool area. There are 2 gyms available, I unfortunately did not make use of this, and a fine dining restaurant. The rooms are all equipped with a fully kitted out kitchens, dining areas and separate lounge/TV rooms. My room had a guest toilet - which worked brilliantly as I had to have meetings in my room one day. These rooms, and I had a look at a few while I was there, are all more like little homes! So much better than a "dingy" little Hotel room. I definitely recommend this Hotel next time you visit Sandton, Johannesburg.

“Luxurious Suites, convenient Location”

Wonderful Suites with full kitchens, dining table, guest toilet.. larger than most apartments! Connected to th Nelson Mandela Shopping center; which makes it very convenient for restaurants or other needs, especially as it is not wise to walk around the street of Jo'berg at night in small groups. Staff were pleasant and very helpful; rooms spotless and amenities of a high standard. A lovely place to stay.

“nice, central”

Very nice, great option when you have kids as there is lots of space, you have the kitchen to use, and you are connected to the mall. Very safe. The units really vary, though, and while none are bad some are more 'mod' than others and can be a bit cold (as compared to the more traditionally styled units). We had one this time which had a patio which opened onto a garden area which was very nice.

“Very pleasant and nice stay”

I stayed at the Michelangelo Towers in September due to a work meeting. I stayed in a suite and I visited several other suites where other work colleagues were staying.

All suites were spacious, the kitchens were modern and full of kitchen tools and utensils.

The living areas were very coisy, with large sofas creating a great athmosphere. The windows were from floor to ceiling, providing a lot of light during the day (ideal for meetings) and a gorgeous view of Jo'burg by night.

The location can't be better. Right on the top of Mandela's Square, with great choice of restaurants and shops for those that like shopping. If you like meat, visit "The butchers shop" where you can get the best steaks in town at a ridiculous price!

I found the hotel clean, staff was correct, and safe. In order to access to the lifts area you must swipe your room's card.

In general very pleasant and nice stay.
