I stayed at Dossa guest house for two nights with my partner in August 2012. The booking process had been positive and quick and the caretaker was friendly and helpful and responded to any requests that I had before my arrival.
However when we checked into the 'accommodation' we were highly disappointed with the look of everything. For starters the building was clearly previous onsite quarters for staff (similar to a Granny flat in Aus) and it looked very run down. There was a very flimsy glass door with no burglar bars on the windows. The floor had not been cleaned before we arrived, in fact the whole room just looked dirty. The decor was terrible and very minimalistic. I have stayed in other guest houses and paid a similar rate but was not expecting to live in what I can only describe as squalor. The bed was so uncomfortable that I barely slept and I had a wedding to go to the next day with a sore back. The shower was hot although the fittings kept falling out including the shower rack - all a bit tacky and lacklustre.
The owners on the other hand are lovely people and very inviting and they have two lovely dogs which are very quiet. It felt like we were being ripped off as I would not expect someone to live in those conditions even if they weren't paying. I think they just need to spend a little money to make the rooms look less like student digs.
